Over the bast 3 years I've been reading a lot of novels in my spare time and I've kind of dried up on the authors I've enjoyed. Recently I've been buying a lot of shit I can't even finish. I figured I'd start a thread to recommend a good book or author. Maybe save a couple bucks instead of buying firewood.
My recommendation:
Stephen Hunter - Time to Hunt.

Oh and to save the flame. If you don't read please don't post. |

After reading the first couple chapters you wont want to put it down. There's some phenominal information in there. All of it references actual facts as well.
Of anythng I've ever read it sticks in my mind the most. I was into that sort of stuff a bit before, but that book engraved it in my mind. So many places I want to check out before I die now. |

Atlas Shrugged-Ayn Rand
Cats Cradle- Kurt Vonnegut
Ulysses- James Joyce
Atlas and Ulysses are both huge novels 1000+ pages so they will take you time but are extremely good books |

On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society - David Grossman
Best book I've read, and it doesnt only pertain to army/cops etc. Anyone would enjoy it.
House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski
"The format and structure of the novel is unconventional, with unusual page layout and style typical of ergodic literature. It contains copious footnotes, many of which contain footnotes themselves, and some of which reference books that do not exist.[1] Some pages contain only a few words or lines of text, arranged in strange ways to mirror the events in the story, often creating (paradoxically) both an agoraphobic and a claustrophobic effect. The novel is also distinctive for its multiple narrators, who interact with each other throughout the story in disorienting and elaborate ways."
The book is fucked. |

| The Song of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin. Long reads, but very interesting. Just don't get too attached to any characters because there is a whole lot of dying going on all the time. |
