How cool is your dad? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Invalid Zero
With Fathers Day upon us I figure we should have a thread dedicated to the cool things dad does.

My dad gets a real kick out of my car. Still can't believe it's just a little 2 liter. Well whenever I stop by his shop with my car he eggs me on to do a burnout, spin some donuts in the yard or on the street, and I always do it. I don't usually do stuff like that but somehow, when it's dad telling you to smoke 'em, it's not stunting. It's just having fun.

Another thing I think is super cool about my dad is that his personal Peterbilt is painted like Optimus Prime (just a different color combo) and he has 2 of those 3 foot long train horns mounted under the truck with a big chrome handle beside the seat for them. It's awesome and loud enough to make your head explode. He also doesn't drive it when it's shitty out. 150k truck that stays off the road so it remains clean.

Here's to you dad.

My Dad is awesome. He is a PE teacher at the small school I went to, so he taught my gym classes from grade 1 all the way through graduation, as well as coaching volleyball, basketball and soccer. He can still run and shoot circles around all of us 4 kids in the family (which is saying something, because all of us kids are decorated athletes in multiple sports) and had inspired us to achieve our best in anything we attempt.

We've never had fights, and he's a great friend I can call when I have good news, or an ear to listen if I have bad news.

Love you Dad!

My dad and I were sitting down talking about one cars a couple months back, and he tells me..
"Josh, I know I like to drive fast off the line with you're car, but just as a word of advice.. always look around you before you do it to see if theres cops around. Im really bad at not doing it myself."
It went along the lines of that. I had a big grin on my face by the end of it, it was fun. He's a cool guy, we also wash our cars religiously together.

My dad's alright.. bit of a douchebag at times and can be easy to take him the wrong way or he'll take something that my brother or myself say the wrong way...

He's alright. Gives me a few bucks here and there to help me out if he thinks I need it. :p

Overall .... :dunno:

Same here. I can talk to him about anything.

And he's helped me out with money so many times when I was just getting started on my own.

Some how my dad seems to have all the power tools that I need even though I never see him use them ever (and they are usally still in package lol).

my dad kicks ASS!
well not literally, he is 65 now... but he is the shit
he always tells awesome stories about patients of his and different ways of how they have smashed their heads, he is a head injury specialist... from crotch rocket accidents, buddy taking an axe into his friend's head, cyclists getting hit my opening car doors... list goes on... he is incredibly funny, my dad  and has helped me out more in my life than I could even imagine someone would do... not to mention the best thing bout my dad is that I am an adopted child too, so he pretty much gave me a chance to become successful and live life - something so many kids out there up for adoption now will never even be able to imagine - definitely owe my pops everything I am in life...
and he has good taste in cars

no matter how "cool" or "uncool you think you dad is ALWAYS show him respect and how much you appreciate him.

My Dad is awesome. I respect him a ton and he has taught me a lot in life. Another cool thing is, even though he's in his 50's, he goes Skydiving, roller blading, goes to the gym and just stays healthy in general.

He is also a jack of all trades. He can do electrical, plumbing, dry wall, framing, and is a mechanic by trade.

 to all the dads out there!

I honistly doubt i could ever ask for a better Dad. Anyone who has ever met my dad understands where i am coming from. No matter what and when he is the ONLY person i can always count on for a hand with anything. IE: towing my broken car to a show or back from the track. He is very laid back and i can talk with him about anything. He never asks for anything in return except my appreciation. I can honistly say that he is my best friend as well as my dad. I only hope that one day I can be just as good of a father to my own children as he has been to me.

I have to be honest, while my dad is not longer with us he did some cool things in his life. He was a 4 time national champion in Downhill and GS Skiing, placed in the top 3 in over 60 equestrian events which also earned him the oppurtunity to meet the queen, fixed the family vehicle and was apretty good slow pitch player. You might think the first two are cool but wonder why I threw in the last two. The reason is that he did all of the above while being 100% blind, could not even tell if it was light or dark. He had many heath problems in his life but was an inspiration none the less up until he died. And for the record, seeing a blind guy trying to run bases when all he is going off is people yelling and his own internal compass is pretty fucking entertaining.

I have a unique relationship with my father in comparison to those here; we aren't best friends and we don't call each other up and talk for hours.

But, my father does drop everything whenever I am in need of help. He'll be the first one to help try and squeeze furniture into his minivan with 5 minutes notice. Even when I was younger (like 10) and wanted a Sun route, he got up even earlier to help me/my brother out doing it (Whether it be delivering it with us or driving the car when it was cold) and didn't ask for any money in return.

When he was gone on vacation I bought a heavily damaged car and parked it beside the house. After the initial few minutes of being angry, the entire mood changed and it turned into "how will we get this done" and he was always the first one out in the garage getting it done.

I might not have any sappy stories about my dad, but I couldn't ask for a better one in my mind. He has never let me down, has always been there when I needed something and never asked for anything in return.

Mine kicked the shit out of my mom and I, and fucked off when I was 14.

Jeez... Way to kill the mood guys.

I respect my old man to death. But I keep getting a feeling that he hates me. Or is quite jealous of me. He never had the opportunities that I have.. But it's not like he buys his dad the kinda shut I buy mine.

Weird..
Thanks for bringing up repressed memories!

I wish my Dad was still around. My Dad passed away Christmas Day back in 95...

Since then, every Father's Day.. I go fishing. Something we used to do a lot when I was little.

Miss ya Dad. :(

When i was younger, my dad and I fought constantly...my mom said it was cause we were exactly alike.
Now that i've matured a bit, we co-exist but its not like we're close at all...we pretty much only talk when it's neccessary.

I will say this though, I respect what the man has done in his life.
He worked damn hard to get to where he is today. In high school, he immigrated to brazil, and there were no Protueguese-Korean language dictionaries at that time. So he had to translate everything from Portuegeuse to English, and then into Korean. If nothing else, he has an incredible work ethic, and is very well respected in the Korean community for it.

I try to emulate not only how I make my money based off him, but also what to do with the money once I have it.
Currently, he's in North Korea. He is part of a small group of people who built a factory there, which produces various packaged foods.
Its labelled as an investment, so that the North Korean governemnt allows its existence, but the sole purpose of the factory is to provide the people of the country with both food and income (through employment)....the investors knowingly expected close to zero return when they started the project, which was clearly not the motive behind the factory

He's very very very far from being even a good father, and on several occasions he was violent, but i respect him immensely for who he is.

I won't kill the mood any more than it is going with my absentee father story.:(

My dad's quite remarkable sometimes. He's a really talented civil engineer. He's always been there to help me out when I needed help and has never asked for anything back. He's just "forgotten about" missed insurance payments that I owed him in the past, and we can always talk about cars and trucks.
Even though I'm definitely not the son he envisioned having, he treats me like I am.

I ended up getting him a gift certificate to the golf store on Sunday. I don't think he was expecting it to be as much as it was. Also he didn't care that I forgot to get something until the morning of Father's Day, lol.

seevik
not gonna lie, pretty fucking cool
