that was stupid of me! - Click HERE for Original Thread

hontuner
Okay, it was not very smart at all doing this but I did it none the less and I can't go back and change it now. I was headed into spruce grove from stony plain and I happened to race a modded is300, and let's just say I hit the governer (so were not calling numbers). And when I got to the lights this car pulled up beside me with 2 fairly high class looking older guys in it and he stops right beside me even though there is no cars in front of them. He tells at me to slow the fuck down, and of course being stupid, I reply with "I do what I want". And with a smirk on the passengers face he holds his hand up and to my suprise he had a freshly shined up police badge in it.... I could actually feel my face go white. And I replied with "yes sir, sorry sir, have a nice day!" I waved and drove off and without hesitating turned at the next available turnoff. So here is my question, is it possible for me to get into any kind of trouble after the fact? Considering they were both off duty, and have no way of proving it? If they can, should I just dig a hole, burry my car 20 feet under and hide in my basement for the rest of my life???

Thanks, mike.

Off-duty or not, they could still have pulled you over and written you a ticket. There's nothing stopping them from reporting you (plate) and having an on-duty cop show up at your door.

So, for everybody's sake, stop street racing, and slow the fuck down.

hontuner
Ya but when I had posted that previously I had a completely different car and was being pulled over for different reasons that had nothing to do with my driving habits, and that wasn't the question....

BLOCKER
There is a possibility of getting a ticket, however, you likely just got a finger wag...

take his advice

Bwa ha ha ha ha.

“He tells at me to slow the fuck down, and of course being stupid, I reply with "I do what I want".

Pure gold.

If in fact they are actual officers and not some wanna be dudes flashing a badge, they could always send you a ticket after the fact.

Were there any lights light up? Did you notice any lights in the car? Were the plates normal, ie) They did not have a black fleet sticker for the registration?

I would not worry. If they send you the ticket, fight it and slow down. :D

JoshP2002
Governer on those cars is really high...
Im surprised they didnt just suspend your license and give you a huge fine.

hontuner
Ya it scared the shit out of me, so much that I'm definetly going to slow the fuck down! ..... And as for the car, they were just in a regular old family car, no lights, no cage, or tint... Plain Jane. If I was any stupider I would have asked to see his badge to see if it was real, but I didn't feel like getting my license suspended....

XtraX
Castrol Raceway. look into it.

hontuner
Haha ya I decided its probly the smartest thing to do to hit the track..... But guys, no one here can tell me they have never opened their car up on the highway....

jzz30tt
Yeah but mike, 180 is perhaps a wee bit excessive.

hontuner
Very true....

  That is golden.

You are one lucky SOB because with an attitude like that you sure deserved a ticket.

THAT, or you keep acting like that and you'll end up like Got Boost.... getting into road rage encounters at every street intersection.

hontuner
Don't worry, I'm already there. I had a guy spit on the side of my car and told me he was going to kill me because my bov dumped when I was beside him when he had his window down and tried to run me off the road! He was from BC.... So that explains everything haha

pfft

280 would be excessive... i can run 180

Flex
Chances are if they didnt do anything right then they probably won't.

Just take it as an act of god and learn the lesson....next time you may not be so lucky

hontuner
Haha I'd pay to see you run that fast! And I pretty well am taking this as an act of god and I'm going to slow down, especially with my luck..... Thanks for the imput guys, it helps to think that I might not be SOL!

mr2_import
Hey buddy let me say... Yes I have speed before....BUT to tell the guy you can do what ever you want (you pretty much said to go f**k himself) That is just rude and no wonder why police our targeting import drivers because of douch bags like yourself.. GJ your one smart person and even smarter person for posting it on here.. I don't regular post but because of your post I wanted to enlighten you to slow the F**K down.. And that is why insurance is so high because of people like you ..good job!!! your my hero

hontuner
Ya well let me tell you buddy, the only reason anybody knew that I was doing that speed was because I said so, the cops had no idea how fast I was going, just that I was speeding. And when I said "I do what I want" I didn't know it was a cop, and I guarantee that no one would have known that they were cops. So before you call me a douche bag..... Check yourself. And the reason why your insurance is high is because you drive an import sports car and your a guy. You wanna complain about insurance rates? Buy a yaris. Do something useful with yourself and complain about gas prices.

XtraX
hontuner. another friendly piece of free advice.

Stop digging. Your hole is deep enough.

hontuner
Okay, obviously I know it was the wrong thing to do and obviously I won't do it again. Its not my fault I'm curious to know if there is going to be a ticket showing up in my mail box.

blondy
You already replied but I had already written this out...so am going to post it anyways...

I'm not going to bitchfest with you only because it is not just you that drives beyond the speed limit...unfortunately you are going to get the scolding because you made the post

I would have told you to slow down if you came up beside me...sass me like that? Bite me...you are putting me in danger. So would your parents I would hope...ever thought of what your family would go thru if you came home in a body bag? If they had to identify what was left of your body?

Street racing isn't just you...your car...and maybe someone you are racing...it's the car that might jump out in front of you...the animal who runs across the highway...my innocent dad who was hit by someone who was racing and couldn't stop in time and sped thru the red light leaving him in a coma and barely knows who I am anymore.

So like whoever it was that said it to you...generally speaking

Slow the fuck down...take your car to the track..change your attitude and your driving habits

For you...I hope you really do take this as a blessing and you lucked out on a ticket...losing your driver's and getting to live another day

Bless :)

P.S. And if you make another post about another "stupid" thing that you just now learned from...I'll come hunt you down :D

mr2_import
Thank you blondy good post I agree.. My insurance is cheap than a 16 or 17 year kid so thanks for coming out I am done with you...
(flame suit on.. flame on)

evoI
I don't understand why you feel the need to street race?

I would NEVER race someone in the city, esp someone I don't know. A lot of guys at work want to race my car, but I say OK meet me at castrol, yet neither of us never goes.

So why race some random? Do you gain anything winning the race, other then "self-confidence" to go faster next time, and to remove your governor so you can go faster?

DivineRight
I'm just wondering why you didn't just smile and acknowledge the old guy regardless? Its an old guy, he was right and he caught you in the act. Whether or not he was a cop really is a moot point.

Makes me wonder if your parents taught you anything about respecting your elders and taking responsibility for your actions. I don't think people here are angry about the fact that you were driving fast, just the attitude you have.

I mean think about it, if your own mom or dad told some punk kid to smarten up after they busted him for something and the guy told him to go eat shit, wouldn't that piss you off?

hontuner
I'm not taking it lightly at all and I'm not making a joke about it. Everyone has very good points and I'm sorry to hear about that blondy. But there is a lot of times where the track isn't open late at night. In that case we usually go way out of town to a straight road with no one on it. Still street racing, I know, still stupid, I know. But when you love to race, its hard to pass it up. If you don't race then you don't know what its like. But don't get me wrong, it is very stupid and not worth it at all, some people just need a close call or something bad to happen for them to realize that. I guess I'm fortunate to have people like everyone here to tell me how it is, and ya never know its a posibility that someones life was saved because of it. Thanks for the imput everyone.

Mike.

blondy
 Great post !!

I'm not against racing...I love it...I live for it!!

Just am against it on the streets...

I live on a very busy street...hot cars go by all night...I sit on the deck for hours...but so many of them race...and there are people and intersections and quite often you hear the screech of the brakes...the mashing of metal...

Anyways....

Get some business cards made...next time someone tempts you to race...pass them the card "Meet you at Castrol Friday night !!"

Take care of yourself

:)

hontuner
Very good idea! Will do. Thanks blondie!

Geofux
If you said that to me I would called the cops on you and if I saw two cars going at it, my camera would have been out..

Lesson learned? I hope so, because next time you should be SOL.

hontuner
Lesson learned, but keep talkin.

You know, that could have been a fake badge. How long was it visible? Remember, in this modern age, ANYTHING can be faked. Yes, even police badges. If that person was indeed flashing a fake badge, he would be guilty of commiting a SERIOUS crime. That is NOT taken lightly by police services anywhere.

P.S. That was still dumb. Do you have road rage?

hontuner
Haha ya I thought of that one but I don't think it was fake. They were really serious. And as for road rage, not usually lol not unless some idiot in a lifted truck decides to cut me off or ride my bumper! Then maybe.
