hay guys what do you guys think about supercharger spooling turbo rather then exhaust gas? i mean supercharger blowing turbo then turbo blowing air into intake manifold..... give me your opinion

Stupid, and Defeats the purpose of a Turbocharger Entirely..

You could Twin charge.. That's an Idea.. But.. Again.. You need to prepare your motor for it..

Fazda
i saw a vid today where they turbo'd a lightining. the turbo was at the back of the exhaust, im sure you have all seen this before, they gained about 130whp untuned.

yes but.. by spooling turbo with supercharger i thought that turbo will not have any leg as well as more power at higher rpm then with just only supercharger...

Soulfly
Do you even know what you're talking about??

RotorRyan
it would be pointless

Jayturbo
....that question was stooopid stooopid stooopid...

Jayturbo
fetal alcohol syndrome has a tight grip on you my friend.

I think its an interesting idea we have all thought of it before but it is just very unpractical idea. I believe that with the money used to do that you could build a better single turbo engine.

Talon_66
Its been done on a few EVOs.

One was done on an EVO 8 in Colorado, only because he was using such high boost, and it took forever to spool.

ChromeDragon
He's not talking about twin-charging though, he's talking about using a supercharger to push air into a turbocharger. Thus actually supercharging a supercharger. You'll get twice the parasitic losses and less than half the compressor output.

The reason a turbo is able to spool so quickly is because of the hot, expanding exhaust gases exiting the cylinders. Push slightly compressed air past the exhaust wheel and it would NEVER see any usable boost, not unless the supercharger was pullied up like crazy, but even then the losses from the supercharger would likely be much greater than the potential gains from the 'turbo.'

i also didn't know what the OP was asking until i read this.

Dan_Gyoba
Well, marks for thinking about it, but yeah. If you're going to do that, it's better to just use the supercharger.

Twincharging, however, has advantages, where the supercharger is used to give some instant boost, and then a big freakin' lagmonster turbo takes over when the supercharger runs out of breath. The extra boost then makes some more power and because it's ramming air down the throat of the engine (Which then becomes exhaust) it does help spool the turbo, as if the engine were larger displacement.

Disadvantage is the extra complexity and expense. It's just not worth it unless you build an engine that can take BIG boost, requiring a larger turbo than it could otherwise spool.

vw is coming out with a 1.4L turbo and supercharged engine. it's not impossible

You fucking FAIL..

Did you not just read this WHOLE Thread...

Jesus..

That's just about as stupid as the people turning left onto a grid-locked traffic road, and then blocking the WHOLE intersection...

catlin987987
if you need to spool it, use nitrous.

hay thanks what do you guys say about spooling turbo with NOS.
if this is good idea what are the difrence between supercharger or NOS spooling. will this work??

Jayturbo
This is the worst thread ever.

Just cause something is possible doesn't mean it should be done... you could drive a car with your feet if you want too... that dont make it a good fuckin' IDEA....

Stop thinking outside the box. You are going to make your brain implode.
