| so i was in sherwood park today and i was leaviing sap ( sherwood park athletic park) and i squeeled my tires as i was leaving anyways an rcmp officer on a bike more than a block away comes out into the street a block away and tells me im getting a stunting ticket for this note i did not do a burnout my tires just squeeled, anyways as he is writing up this ticket to other rcmp's come up on there bikes and another guy gives me a ticket for my enlarged exhaust which btw is not a fart cannon, my question is, is this actually stunting? and how can i make a just case to fight this ticket, it also seemed kind of strange how he asked me if the car was mine after i already gave him all my documentation. any thoughts and ideas would be great would really like to not have 3 demerits taken off |

Stunting is a pretty crazy law here... I had never heard of it in bc until I moved here. but basically they can give it to you for ANYTHING they deem as a distraction to other drivers.. you could get one for honking your horn, flashing your head lights etc. Or just because they are having a bad day and want to nail you with something.
(e) perform or engage in any stunt or other activity that is
likely to distract, startle or interfere with users of the
highway;
(f) drive a vehicle so as to perform or engage in any stunt or
other activity on a highway that is likely to distract, startle
or interfere with other users of the highway; |

Weak sauce ticket.
Fight it.
Tell the Crown Prosecutor, you are getting used to driving a standard (if it is a manual) or there was gravel on the road, etc. Just be upfront and honest. Let the CP know what happened.
As for the exhaust, there was a thread on here for more information on how to fight them.
Dress nice and be polite and have a nice conversation around it. Explain your situation with out it looking like you are trying to weasel out of the ticket. |

Still weak sauce.
Go in before the court date. It seems that the tickets take a few weeks to be processed and entered into the system. I would call July 03 to see if the tickets had been entered into the system. Pe proactive, this seems to work well.
Once it is there, go to the courthouse (location on back of ticket) and have a nice conversation.
I had my tint ticket withdrawn and the seatbelt one was almost withdrawn. The CP was looking for a reason to withdraw it, but the officers notes were too good. Anyways, I went in with $230.00 in tickets and walked out paying $115.00
The key is to be nice, professional and polite. They are not used to dealing with people who are like that. :D |

| thanks for the advice man i definately will do that what can i say about the exhaust ticket tho? and yes these tickets were definately weak hopefully the crown can see that as well |

| the exhaust is legit. It may not sound like shit but it still has a 4" tip. Shitty to hear about the squeal lol, that really sucks. I would go on the grounds that he was over a block away and stress that it was not a burn out, just a little squeal. |

| ya just say you shifted in your seat a little and you popped the clutch by accident. a little tire squeal shouldn't warrant a stunting ticket. |

How did you manage to get the tint ticket withdrawn? Did they not care that you actually had tint? Reason I ask is I got pulled over for tint by the same cop twice in a three month period and this time finally just had it removed...if I could get the tint ticket withdrawn it would be great too.
Also when you go in before the court date what time do you go (same time that's listed on the ticket just a couple weeks before?) Where do you go in the court and who do you talk to ? Just find someone and ask to speak to the CP? |

How can that be legit when diesel trucks run 4 inch exhaust all the time? In some cases it comes stock with a 4 inch tip. I don't buy that and I would fight that stupid ticket as well. |

Its all to do with NOT being modified to be larger then stock.
If your stock exhaust outlet is 2 inch, you can go no larger. So if you have a 2 inch exhaust, add a 4 inch tip, they could call the illegal. but its all up to whoeever looks at it. Its a very poorly worded law. |

| what if you have a dual tip stock thats 2 inches a piece, then you add a single 4" tip. technically it would be legal lol. |

I had put on one of my power suits, crisp shirt, and power tie and my shoes were polished.
I was patient and respectful to the JP and the CP.
When the CP came out, I extended my hand to shake his (something I always do) he did not shake mine, which was to be expected. I also thanked him for taking time out of his busy day to see me.
I had a nice conversation with the CP saying that I wanted to just have a conversation around this and here is what happened.
I admitted I had tinted front windows. They are 10-15% max, but one can still clearly see in the car. I admitted my windows were tinted limo in the back (which is legal). As I was explaining he was looking over my tickets. When I finished explaining my situation I was silent and waited for him to speak. With in a few seconds, he told me he is “withdrawing the tinted windows ticket, but the officers notes on the back of seat belt are too good. I can not do anything about this one, but if I could I would. So, if you plead guilty to the Seatbelt, I will throw out the tint.”
My response. “Thank you very much sir. I can pay this today” |

It's amazing how much a little (or alot of) patience and etiquette will go. I'll keep this in mind if I ever need a ticket taken care of.
EDIT: Nathan, was it the same bike cop that broke up our meet? Haha... |

| BLOCKER |
If issued under Section 115 (2) (b) - Careless Driving - 6 demerits
If issued under Section 115 (2) (f) - Stunting - 3 demerits
Both are $402
115 (2)(b) is more often issued and is often reffered to as stunting...

It was a retarded situation.
I was pulling into a Macs store parking lot to grab a slurpee. In the process of pulling in, I was removing my seatbelt (as I used to normally do). The traffic officer in the unmarked car saw me doing this as I was rolling past him in the parking lot and thought I was "trying to put it back on when I saw him". |
