quite some time ago i bought a 07 ford focus hatch back and installed a sub just a simple p2 with a 250watt amp and wired it into my stock system. about 3 weeks ago i took it all out to move the girlfriend and now my cd deck will not work. some times when i am booting around the city it will turn on but as soon as i shut my car off it doesnt work.
so just about a week ago i got a test light and tried all the fuses and nothing wrong so i pulled out my deck and the wires conected to the deck are dead ...
so here comes my question ... if i buy the wireing harness and get somebody to install it is it going to work?
i know this may sound like a retarted question but as you can tell i am NO electrician. |

| I'm confused as to how you went about testing? |

Get a volt meter and test out your power, ground, and acc. when the vehicle is on - after that you'll be able to figure out which wire is bad.
Is this an aftermarket or stock deck? |

| If there is not power at the deck at all then an aftermarket one installed using the harness will not work. However if you pay a shop to install it, generally around 50 bucks or so, they can easily figure out whats going on. Since guys like me do this every day it usually isnt much of a problem to figure out. |

yeah, just pull it out and check the ground, power and acc(black, red and yellow, consecutively i believe). also make sure your car is on.
stick the black end of the volt meter on the ground and the red end on red then the yellow. you should get a voltage reading for both red and yellow.
stock stereos have been known to crap out. if all your voltages are ok then it could be your stereo. good news is aftermarket stereos are generally better quality than the stock units.
surprised ford wont do warranty work on that though.
good luck |
