Red Light Camera Ticket - Click HERE for Original Thread

PunkA$$
got one in the mail a week ago

what's the policy on these. You can clearly see me making a right hand turn. the first picture shows my car before the stop line, before making the right hand turn.

and if i can get it thrown out, do i have to wait for the court date?

dharmaboy
Gotta wait a full 5 seconds (the camera takes one every second upto 5 seconds) if you dont the camera knows you moved and *smile*

boom!

your nailed.

fricken red light cams :fingersx:

The red light camera also measures your speed (which is also on your ticket). If you turned the corner at, like 30kmph, they know you didn't stop before turning.

PunkA$$
damn!!! looks like i'm screwed then

chowder
I thought the ruling was that you have to come to a complete stop before turning right.

PunkA$$
well,

the picture shows me right before the stop line, and there's a motorbike right infront of me. do you think i can argue that the motorbike set the motion sensor off?

i'll have to scan it when i get a chance.

superpirate25
I doubt you will get it dropped. At least you won't get any demerits. Just cut your losses and pay it, the time spent missing work or other things to go to court isn't worth it in your situation.

PunkA$$
it's a $300 ticket :gay:

superpirate25
$300! Are you serious? That's a pretty huge burn for something a camera caught. Ok, perhaps it is worth trying to worm your way out of it.

PunkA$$
well, actually, $287

yeah, that's hella expensive

Hope you guys have by now seen the report in Friday's Sun and Journal about the guy who has accumulated over $2,000 in right turn on red tickets at the same corner near his shop. Quite apart from the issue of this guy's mental state, the EPS officer in charge of the little media circus they held the other day said that the cameras are triggered by a vehicle exceeding a speed of 24 km/h as it travels over wires in the curb lane just before the intersection. He said, without providing any evidence, that it is "impossible" for a vehicle to come to a complete stop BEFORE THE PEDESTRIAN STOP LINE if it is travelling at or above this speed at that particular point. This would probably explain the "I'm sure I stopped" scenario that many people are complaining about. The typical Edmonton driver barrel-asses up to every red light/stop sign to turn right in complete, utter disregard for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, skateboarders, and usually is looking left for oncoming traffic so he/she doesn't have to take 5 seconds out of a schedule that is so obviously more important than the safety of his/her fellow citizens. I live/work/walk/drive in the downtown area and have been nearly killed many times over by these idiots. Thank God for red light/right turn cameras. To those of you who don't know the rules of the road, thank you for subsidizing my property taxes.

my buddy went through a red light camera at 3:00am one day. He had his tail gate down and his other buddy was holding on to it he was wearing roller blades and no pants.

Thats how people get killed. Happened to a guy when I was in high school, except he was holding on to the side view mirror, fell, and went under the back wheel.

Turning right at a red light is exactly the same as turning at a stop sign. Stop, wait a few seconds and proceed when safe to do so. What's up with that picture of the guy and the girls, did he pee his pants? Oh, I also understand that the red light cameras may also double as phot radar in the future... Big Brother is watching!
