| I work at a car dealership here in the area, and they'll often send me on short little errands to pick something up or drop something off. However its not uncommon for me to be running these errands in a dealership vehicle, without a plate. While theyre rarely more than a couple blocks, if I was to get caught without a plate in their car, theyre not the ones in trouble, I am... right? |

If YOU are driving a dealer vehicle with out a dealer plate, YOU are driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.... YOU are liable.... |

as far as i know, as long as you asked your boss for a plate and if he said no just drive it without out
liability would fall upon him and the dealership would it not, as they said for you to take without a car
like you would get the tickets for driving, and anything that happens, but then you could sue the dealership for anything that you have happen to you |

You would still be responsible to go to court, prove the insurance would cover the car, prove the car is owned by a dealership and not yourself....
In the end, take 5 minutes, put the dealer plate on and save yourself hours of headache...
Worst case senario, if the dealership does not have insurance and you are pulled over with out the plate on:
you pay the $2875 (no insurance)
You pay the $230 (no registration)
the car gets towed...
You walk back to the dealership...
Yes you can always sue the dealership... but will you win? there is always a chance you may not.
protect yourself.... |

if they don't give you a plate to use, take the one off your bosses car( been there , done that)
then you can rack up as many demerits as you want
your driving record stays clean. his becomes a mess
then the next time you need a plate he won't think twice about it |

What the fuck kind of (false) information is that?
It doesn't matter whose plate is on what vehicle, if *YOU* get pulled over the ticket is written with *YOUR* name and *YOUR* drivers license number on it - and *YOU* get the demerits. |

^ x2...
Now borrowing your bosses plate and testing the speed limiter while passing photo radar vans.... That would make for a funny way to get fired. |

its not worth risking it and getting all those fines
if they say drive without a plate, just say no |

I can remember being told to do things which were, strictly speaking, illegal in a job climate where the boss could just fire you and hire the next guy. It was harder then to just refuse to do it, because the next guy WOULD, if only to keep the job.
In the current situation though, there aren't 40 candidates waiting to take your job on a moment's notice. You tell them to get you a plate. If they don't, you don't drive. It's not like you're asking anything unreasonable, they have the dealer plates to cover the cars for these kind of trips. |

put a damn plate on.. they come in bags even... don't even have to use screws... and like above, take the demo plate if there are none. you seriously think if you got in shit your boss would admit to telling you to go without a plate?!?
I wouldnt trust a sales manager as far as I could throw them after the shit I have been through when I worked at a car dealership. The ones I know have no soul or moral standard to be willing to take the rap when it was their mistake.. if it means they can blame it on some meer pion salesman/whateveryouare, they will...
no legit manager would allow you to drive without a plate. which makes me 100% sure if you got in shit they would just blame you.. your word against theirs... and I will put money on him throwing you to the sharks without a blink
sounds like a shadey-ass place to me.. my money is on it being derrick dodge :dunno:  |

When I worked for Great West Chrysler they constantly sent people out without plates because 'there is not enough to go around'. Customers included.
Hell, I took my plate with me everywhere, and always put it on. These plates had no magnets or bags either...so you had to screw them in everytime. The best was the lot manager who just kept the plate on his drivers seat so he could show he had it if he got pulled over.
While we are on the topic... Some D plates are magnatized (see Koch Ford) and if one were to....fall off during a test drive. What would be the situation with the cop? Same if say a customer operates the roof on a convertible and the plate falls out (ie: Volkswagen EOS...happened to me this past weekend. Luckily I remembered right away and pulled over)
By the way, at Southgate Volkswagen I'd actually trust my new car managers. They are constantly looking out for us there and have yet to throw any of us under the bus. Surprising how honest and decent human beings they are. |
