I'm on week 10 of P90x and I'm really impressed with the results. I've been working out for approx. 13 years now and have tried pretty much every workout known to man but this is something else. Just doing the 'Plyometrics' alone has made me faster and more agile/explosive than almost everyone I know(And I'm 5"8 sitting at under 200lbs). I've never done Yoga prior to this but it(Yoga X) has surprisingly up'd my strength, balance and agility...I have good flexability now...overall I'm more lean and ripped as I've ever been...
...I could go on and on but I won't bore you with the details...but personally P90x is 'tha sh*t"...I'd highly recommend it... |

x2. Plyometrics makes a world of difference, the first couple of weeks were very hard but soon you find it a lot easier. The system they give you is designed very well. Your 4th and 8th week are specifically recovery. With Yoga, Plyometrics, Cardio and Abs the focus. I've seen nothing but positive results. I recommend it. |

| Can you guys expand on this a bit more, what is it? A routine, a diet, uh... something else? |

I saw the infomercial for P90x and I think that if I were to order any of these excercise systems, this would be it. They make no secret that you will have to work hard to get in shape, which is what people need to hear instead of "only 20 minutes a week to get 6-pack abs, blah blah"
I would consider getting it, but I need to be in a group to get motivated to do activity like this. I need someone yelling at me, pushing me on, pissing me off. I always feel the best after a workout like that. |

6 day a week routine, roughly an hour a day, with a huge book on nutrition and what works the best for the program. You take a bunch of measurements before and use that information to base your nutrition on. |

| What equipment do you need to work with this, weights/chinup bars etc? |

When you order it they give you 5 different resistance bands. They help alot for the first couple of weeks, they allow you to get used to the proper motion needed to perform the exercise properly. If you have weights readily available you can also use those. |

...you can get it at the 'As seen on TV' store at almost any mall...thats where I grabbed mine(unless you don't mind waiting and you want to pay for shipping)...
...make sure you get a pull up bar...I got a good chin up bar from a Fitness store on 99st. The Bar I have doesn't require screws and your weight gets distributed against the Door trim and the inside wall(You can pop this bar into any door way in about 5secs).
...you can also get resistance bands for really cheap there too...(sorry...I forgot the name of the store...but I can get it for you next time I drive by it on my way to work..if you want). |

The place I got my Bar was at Go-Mango Fitness (5205 99 Street). There is another Fitness store on the other side of the street you can check out too...Fitness Depot(4930 99 St NW ).
I went to Ghetto Millwoods Towne Center for my p90x but I imagine they probably have it at Kingsway or WEM. |

...no prob. I'd recommend getting a couple different tension bands...you'll need them. I can bench the 120lbs. dumbells on an inclined Bench at the gym...'BUT' find myself reaching for the light/medium tension bands a lot of the time on p90x...its insane(and humbling at the same time...use to think I was strong... ). |

so i receieved my p90x workout cds this weekend. and im going to plainly say that p90x is the most intense workout i have seen.
i did the 1st workout tonight (chest and back), and i have literally no feeling in either arms. almost 1 hour of various types of push ups, chin up, and weights!
i know its good when i cant cut my supper because i am unable to put pressure on my knife. i couldnt even put body wash on my body in showering without the assist of my opposite arm because i couldnt raise it. and i couldnt put on my shirt, so here i am sitting her writing you while im frreezzing after my shower.
to just simply put it, ive got 89 more day to go. im wanting to stick with it cuz im feeling results.
for anyone looking for equipment for this program. go to the fitness depot on 4930 99st. get a chin up bar and yoga mat there for less than $20 each. and the free weights are almost on par with walmart pricing. hey a weight is a weight:dunno: . the fitness store about 3 blocks north of it had a chin up bar for $100 i think and the yoga mats were almost $70. dont get raped at that place.
cheers:thumbup: |

so only day 2 of 90, and all i can say now is plyometrics can lick my swalls. different, somewhat interesting, but too extensive and excessive. with all due respect, i feel paralyzed after 2 days.
after investing much money into the program (cd's, nutrition, and equipment), i feel like quitting already. but i would feel my alot of my money was wasted.
can someone please tell me that after so and so days it will become a little bit easier? and im just being a pansy? or is it really this tough through and through?! |

It all boils down to how bad you want to get in the best shape of your life. If you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes no matter what and everything else will fall into place. Big enough dream will blow through work and pain.
I dont understand why people think it should be easy on their out of shape body to get in great shape. Its A LOT of work. You really need to sit down and think why you are sweating buckets everyday, cause without that, you will just be torchering yourself.
The reason p90x works so well is because its all bare bones hard work. But also come to realize that it is not for everyone and if you haven't worked out regularly before/for a while, try to start out easy or you will burn out.
When you follow this program correctly, it works. Period.
BTW, it does get easier in a sense of getting into a routine. But work wise...its plain ass kicking work on your part - get over it. That hot chick you like isnt getting any fatter. |

yeah i realize that it is hard work. and i somewhat new what i was getting into when researching the program. i guess i am just frustrated because i cant move:p .
i guess i was just trying to vent through my pain. and all i needed was someone to tell me to keep the fuck going! and i will indeed. |

| Sounds to me like you haven't went to the gym in a while. Maybe you should do a 4 week prep program at the gym. This will "wake up" your muscles for the program and it might be a little easier  |

i hit the gym 2-3 times a week and do the treadmill in my basement 3-5 times a week. i also play in a bball mens league.
i think my muscles are already awake. but if your try this i think you can agree with me that this is a whole other monster.
until then, i dont really think you know what it takes to keep up with the video(s). |

I agree its different than your conventional "go to the gym and pound back some iron for a couple sets". Its also because its different exercises you have never done before, using muscles and tendons you might have no used in a while. Plus - its pushing you to your limits.
Your body will adapt though. It wont necessarily get easier, but your body wont ache as much the next day. Take it easy at the start. |

It blows me away that it takes a fancy packaged product with slogans like "Get ripped!" and "Join the fitness revolution!" to turn people onto training methods and diets that have been used by athletes for decades.
Whatever gets you off the Elliptical I guess, I just hate the idea of being sold something. |

haha I remember the first time I did plyometrics. It is the hardest workout in the program by far. Trust me by week 3 it will be a lot easier, you will notice you can keep up and you recover a lot quicker. Keep with it. The program works. DONT BE A PANSY:p |

I'm finishing up week 2 of the program and I can already notice and feel the results. I've slightly increased my weight load on some of the excersises, mainly arms and shoulders and can do 1-2 more chin-ups per set. Plyometrics wasn't too difficult for me because I did a crapload of them when I played hockey. The hardest part is still AB ripperX. I can probably keep-up until the 3rd or 4th excersise until i need a rest. When I started I was dead after the first. :p
Another thing to mention is you absolutely need a recovery drink. I started using it during week 2 and felt less sore the next morning. 2 scoops of Isoflex within an hour of a workout is essential if you want results. I add half a scoop to my water when i workout. I think I'll add a little creatine just to spice things up when I hit week 5.
BTW, you don't have to follow the diet plan to a T, just watch what you eat. Obviously no chips, cookies, salty snacks, pop etc. And absolutely NO BEER!!. 1 or 2 per week is ok. ;) |

Not to bring up an older thread, but I just got a shipment in of the P90X kits. anyone interested that mentions 780Tuners can get it for $109.98 with no bands or chin up bars, but I sell those to.
Just an FYI. PM me if interested, I'm just off Whyte and Gateway. |
