are these cops trying to gank me? - Click HERE for Original Thread

KingSpence
i want to begin with that i dont hate cops, i accually quite enjoy cops, the reasonable ones. ive had 20 min conversations with officers after recieveing tickets, they dont bother me. but the select few irritate me to the point of me filing a complaint.

---

i was pulled over by two st albert RCMP officers yesterday. to begin with, i dont know if anyone here knows some st albert cops, and there are a select few that are complete assholes. i will not let out there names, for obvious reasons. but im sure some of you know who they are.

im turning right at a stop light, he is on the other side turning right in the opposite direction. it is POURING rain outside. he pulls a Uee in the middle of the road, and comes flying back to me. im sitting at another red light, whats to do till it turns green right?, he is flipping his siren on and off. i pull over about 20m ahead, and the two officers come up to me and tell me to wind my windows up and down, like 5 bloody times, there making a joke of me. then they inform me i have illegal tint (which i know its illegal, but its 35%, and i have no a/c. beside the point) he told me that he was going to tow my car because of the tint, a body kit (jblood skirts), and a muffler. he told me he was going to write me a 2 demerit ticket for the tint as well.

after asking me if i would fight him in court if he did this, which i said yes, telling the truth. he gave me a written warning, and told me if i didnt show up at the police station the next day with the tint off, muffler off, and skirts off, there would be a warrant for the towing of my vehicle.

this past week one of the officers had made an arrest on an individual i know, drove him away, and dropped them off at a Macs on the other end of st albert, that cant be legal? dropping off an intoxicated individual at a gas station, and leaving.

what i dont understand is that can he accually do all the things he threatened? write me off demerits for having tint, thats like losing demerits for a burnt out light, there is not traffic violation invloved. tow my vehicle for tint? am i able to complaing about this cop.

the police station, the court house, and drayden insurance could give me no clar answers on the subject.

My response.

"Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir."

After I roll my windows up.

"See you in court sucker".

Let him issue the tickets.

The ones that he threatened do not carry demerits.

If he wanted to be a wanker he could seize your plate and tow it if he spots in on the road.

Now, according to City of Edmonton Bylaws... you can have one unregistered and insured, no plated vehicle on your driveway. If it is in your garage who cares.

St. Albert may be different.

If he comes over to your place to take the plate, let him take it. There would be no grounds to tow your car since it is on your property. Then write a formal letter of complaint outlining the details everything and fight the tickets in court.

However there are always two sides to every story....

Isn't threatening illegal...?

Okay, so show up to the police station with no muffler... That's less legal than having a muffler on. Should have something to say about that...

That cop sounds like a total dick.

I would never encourage an unwarrented complaint against another police officer

I don't know but I think if he asks you to roll up and down your window...say no! tell them it's hot and you don't want to. They need to have your permission if they wanted to do it them self and even then, i think they can only search your car if they have your consent or if they see some illegal or suspicious stuff in your car...but i'm not sure....

Ha ha ha ha.

Nice catch.

The officer may (I believe) choose to cite "stunting" as the ticket for the muffler, side skirts, and tint. That carries demerits. I don't think that it'd hold up in court, but if they tow the car, you'll still pay the tow and impound fee.

If you file a complaint, it'll be your word against his. You'll need proof of what was said.

Rolling up and down the windows in the rain sucks, but he's standing in it. I'd just shrug that off.

As always, there will be another side to this story. No matter how much of a jerk the officer may be, I doubt that he turned around and pulled you over because he was bored. Something about how you were driving attracted his attention, or the noise from your muffler sounded excessive.

I'd say that you shouldn't drive in such a manner.

I removed the tint from my windows. I liked how it looked, it just isn't worth giving any passing police officers a reason to pull me over.

That's why sleepers cars are the best. No obvious mods. Keep everything under the hood and inside the car.

Spencer, I see you everywhere. I'm not gonna lie, your exhaust is really, really loud. But as is mine, and I haven't been pulled over yet. So there must be something you're doing that I'm not.
