ok heres the story, i blew my engine h23 a long ass time ago.. so i bought a h22a1 from dylan, so i decided to take it apart and put it threw a parts washer :) (looks sexy by the way and have pictures if wanted), but what i need to find out is if it is balanced at factory?
just wanting to know because if they aren't then i will be balancing and blue printing the engine. anyways thanks for your time :) |

thats my old engine :D You won't be able to just put it back together now. the pistons can't be installed without a hone job from a shop that deals with frm cylinders. h22's have a thin film called frm on the cylinder walls. it is a reinforcement material, unfortunately once the pistons are out it is a bitch to get them back in. You need to use a special stone that most shops do not have. it has to be honed at the proper angle, and on top of that it takes about 8 hours to do a h22 block which will cost you a shit load of money. Just thought i would give you a heads up.
If you don't, your engine may not last that long. by long i mean less than 2 oil changes. research everything i just told you. |

OP There is no such thing as ''Balanced'' or not balanced.
When you balance an engine you are getting the weight of the rotating pieces closer to eachother.
Everything is ''balanced'' its just a matter of how well it is balanced.
Your stock engine can most likely be improved on but unless your running in endurance races (or balling outta control) its a waste of time and money.
Balancing and blueprinting is not cheap and $ per hp not worth it to most people and on most cars (daily drivers) |
