Clutch problem on 92 talon. - Click HERE for Original Thread

70newport
After having my car parked for about a week I went to drive it again and after starting the engine with the car in neutral I can not put it into gear. If I try and start the car in gear it wants to role forward in 1st or backwards in reverse. I checked my clutch fluid level and they seem good but it feels like there is very little resistance on the clutch pedal.

Would this just be needing a new clutch as it has been on its way out or would this be a throw out bearing or something else that I am missing?

Thanks,

Gary

The master or slave cylinder is leaking. Check for leaks.

NAPA sells OEM slave cylinders (~$60 I think), you have to go to Mitsubishi to get OEM master.

I cant seem to find any leaks on te ground and the quick look i took under the hood i couldnt see anything either.... is it possible that they are not leaking but have internal problems?

Thanks.

Did you check the boot on the master cylinder inside the vehicle? You could also try adjusting your clutch pedal but it shouldn't have changed...

Ok, this exact same thing happened to me. And I don't want to discourage you, but it drove me up the wall. I replaced the boot, the master, and slave cylinders (because my master was leaking for sure) only to find that the clutch pedal assembly itself was the problem. If you are part of www.dsmtuners.com you can do a search for clutch pedal modification, and you will get the article I am taking about. I did it myself, and it was very stupid, but after doing it my car shifted like never before. What happens is a bushing at the very end of you pedal assembly wears out over time eventually it was a lot of play. That 1/2 inch of play eventually after it makes it's way through your entire clutch pedal and everything equals enough to not allow your car to go into gear. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me. That is my guess because that is how my pedal had it's issues.
