ntb: need bov ASAP! will pay cash today! - Click HERE for Original Thread

hontuner
I was playing around with my bov when it was off my car and I fucked up the diaphram and now it doesn't want to dump. I had it in the vice and was grinding down a weld on the turbo piping and there was too much pressure on the diaphram and it bent it slightly.

So I NEED a bov today! That's the only thing I need in order to drive it now after it was just rebuilt. I don't care what brand it is just as long as I get one and its fairly cheap.

Will pay cash and pick up today!!!

XtraX
What kind of BOV did you pooch? Wasn't the stock one was it?

hontuner
No, it was some some cheap monz one. Its fucked.

XtraX
What kind of flange and where is it mounted?

hontuner
No idea what you mean by flange, and its mounted where the rubber piping bends upwards on the passenger side right level with the rad connecting to the intake manifold.

XtraX
Here?

[IMG][/IMG]

See I don't exactly know how yours is mounted. I don't have a replacement but I'm trying to help you out.

hontuner
Ya pretty much, except mine would be where your red coupler is, facing the engine inwards.

 Wow. Nobody cares about how your piping is routed. He is asking if your BOV flange ON your piping is like the picture. BOV's don't use one universal flange.

Was I asking you? That's why I asked what a flange is you dumb fuck. If you don't have one for sale then leave.

The guy is trying to help me out, as he stated and I appreciate that..... and buddy repeated what I already asked, and was being a dick about it. Just asked a simple question, gotta love 780!

And he asked where it is mounted, could be anywhere really. And I'm just guessing that his piping would be close to the same considering its basically the same car, so just giving him a detailed description is such a bad thing why?

raceready68

You can't ask someone what a flange is, then proceed to call them a 'dumb fuck'...

First of all I wasn't asking him, and second of all I called him that because I hate when people come on threads and start shit, if your gonna comment make it something positive and/or helpful. If not, then go somewhere else. Simple as that.

Beerking
Just drive without it for now until you buy one, just dont go WOT and you will be fine.

Okay, I wasn't sure if I could drive it like that or not. I can't go "WOT" anyways because its spuddering so bad anyways.

XtraX
Posts like this are probably doing wonders for you sale thread.

I can't help you bud. Sorry.

Compressor surge on low boost does not damage your turbo, I went 3 months with my BOV stuck closed and I still ran 9lbs boost, no problem.

That's cause your running a stock t25 sr turbo.. who cares if that breaks. Same with this guy... stock soarer turbos... who cares.. weld the pipe shut and enjoy the flutter. Only real turbos need bov's.

Why because it needs different spark plugs (why its spuddering) and because I broke my bov? That means nothing towards wheather its a good reliable car or not. Some simple things that I can change in a day.

I don't think the plugs are your issue.

Didn't mean it like that.. i meant like.. if your t25 blew to pieces.. how much would you really care?

At this point I would care a lot for I do not have the time or money to replace it, lol:fingersx:

They're like $200 max.. lol regardless what i mean is.. this guy is complaining that bov's cost an arm and a leg when really this is a simple fix on a car that doesn't really require a bov in my opinion.. i doubt he's running 1+ bar on those turbos either. I would seal that pipe shut and spend the money on more important things.

Im a penny pincher (especially after the city raped me for taxes, 45% increase from last year), my wife and I are saving to go to Italy next spring, but I know where you are coming from and unless you are putting out high boost, then you are not going to damage the turbo by not having a BOV.

Its either that or coils. And I'm not selling it until its completely ready to go. I don't sell things that are not in correct working order.

I don't have the time or money to fix it either if something else were to go. That was kinda part of my question, what will that do if I don't have a bov? Will it affect performance at all? Will it damage anything?

How much boost are you running? Lack of a bov... you may lose a slight bit of turbocharger response in between shifts.. odds are you wouldn't notice a difference. It can put more wear on your turbo.. but only if you're running high boost.. for fairly extended periods of time.

I'm just running stock boost. Can't I just crank up the spring strenght and it would do the same thing because its not working anyways?

I have no idea what you just said. But take this into consideration... the early model 180sx/silvia.. that came with the ca18det.. didn't even come with a blow off valve.

Haha considered. I was just wondering because it comes stock with some form of boost release, wastegate. But it was removed and a bov was installed.

Your wastegate has nothing to do with your BOV, but it does come with a stock by pass valve. IF you are running your stock boost then you are fine to ride it like that until you either replace it with a stock by pass valve or another BOV. Just put your piping back and since it is not releasing you do not ahve to worry about boost leaks and having to weld your piping.

Okay ya that makes sense. Thanks. And one last question, does anyone know if it matters which order the coil packs are reinstalled? Because I was thinking that could be the problem if they have to be in the same order they came out???
