How much will my Ticket be? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Silence*
Last night, a friend of mine and I went cruising on white ave. We we're coming off 75th and somewhere around 79ave there was a photoradar van (I didnt see it, or know about it).

As I was said intersection, the light turned yellow, but I was too close to stop. So I sped up to clear it, and see a flash behind me. I was going 65 - 70K when it happend.

How much am I looking at? Under $150?

Ayeso
I had one for 73 in a 50 and it was 141

iLLlegal
ya i would say under 150. maybe like 136 or somethin.

BLOCKER
If my memory serves me correctly 25 over = $150.00

Alright, not as bad as I thought it would be. I think I should buy a radar detector...

wont help with photo radar, because it clocks you as you pass. then little to no reaction time before you are flashed...

unfortunate, but true

meh, more of a half or quarter truth. Detection of K-band photo units depends on a variety of factors, including the vehicle's distance from the roadway, objects (such as cars ahead of you) reflecting the signals back at you, and of course the quality of your detector.

In my experience it's quite common to detect the photo van 6-10 car lengths in advance - while I have passed by it without detection, this is the exception and not the rule. There have also been times when i've detected it around a corner or hill, but this is less common and is dependant on reflection.

Regardless, an attentive driver will spot a photo unit well in advance of his/her detector.

Ok, just saw that the speed limit is 60 on that stretch of 82 ave. And I ment 79 Street, not ave, lol.

So i was only 10 over... :dunno:

Emerson
I thought they can't ticket you for speed if your in an intersection :dunno:

Silence*
this was after the intersection.

20bplease
Were you at the intersection of 75st and 82ave and you saw the flash as you approached 79st? Because that would be the red light camera. $300, please and thank you.

Silence*
I know it wasn't red light camera. My friend saw the flash come from a van cause I was ahead of him. The flash also came from a side road along 82.

Edit: And when I say i was too close, I mean I was already in the intersection when it turned yellow.
