GOT BOOST
Only a few more days untill it is released.

Anyone else excited about this?

It seemd the Batman movies were good, then went to super lame, and now back to awesome.

I am looking forward to watching Heath Ledgers preformance as the Joker. It is looking pretty promising that he will turn out to be the bad guy we all love to hate.

Cyanide Ride
Can't wait for this one as well!

This is Batman as it should have been.

Invalid Zero
I just watched Batman Begins this weekend as a "refresher".

x2

And Mike I completely agree these recent movies are the right way to make a Batnan movie, Heath looks insane as Joker.

ChromeDragon
So much darker than even Tim Burton's first film. Then Joel Schumacher's fetish for neon made the whole franchise a huge joke.

I'm glad DC Comincs came out of their assholes and made this one right. It should be a gooder!

looks good i might have to see this one in theatres!

That and using the same goddamn formula over and over again.

Mind you, it was great seeing a nice close up of Alicia Silverstones latex clad ass on the big screen, but I had already got tired of the same thing done in the first movie.

As for Joker, they'll probably replace Heath if they don't kill him...

95EagleAWD
Yeah, I can't wait for this one. In my mind, Batman should scare the hell out of you, almost a horror film. He isn't your friendly neighbourhood superhero, like that pansy-ass Spiderman.

EK9Hatch
Yes, this looks killer. I'll be seeing it for sure!

My only concern with this movie is how gay the Batbike will be. It looks so shitty in the preview, you can see the guns flopping around. :(

I can't wait for the release. Christopher Nolan has made some amazing movies: Batman Begins, The Prestige, Memento. I wonder what the next project is for this up and coming director.

"Not to put too fine a point on it, but comic book movies finally have their Godfather. Batman's world is expanded and Gotham's threat level significantly elevated without the movie ever losing sight of its hero and his reasons for being (something the other Batman movies never achieved). And trust us when we say the threat is elevated—Ledger's Joker is the walking, talking, cackling embodiment of pure terror, and his performance is every bit as good as you've heard. This is a bleak, almost tragic movie that still has "holy shit, that's cool" moments—in other words: Best. Movie. Of. The. Summer"

Can't wait.

Review: 'Dark Knight' a stunning film

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Mov...ight/index.html

By Tom Charity
Special to CNN

(CNN) -- According to a Russian proverb, God makes the priests. Jesters come from the devil.

Heath Ledger dominates as the Joker in "The Dark Knight" in a performance already garnering raves.

1 of 2 You won't have any trouble believing that aphorism when you see Heath Ledger's mesmerizing performance as the Joker in "The Dark Knight," Christopher Nolan's hotly anticipated and often brilliantly executed follow-up to "Batman Begins."

His face caked in cracked white greasepaint, his smile a grotesque red lipstick scar, kohl rimming his eyes, the Joker is a cruel kind of clown, the kind that is only interested in the last laugh.

Slouched in his purple suit, Ledger gives him a lopsided shuffle, a permanently craning neck and an insinuating, deceptively neighborly voice. But there's something reptilian about the way his tongue flicks through his pursed lips like a pickpocket. He's hungry for trouble, a maniac for mayhem -- and in Gotham City, where crime is still running wild, he can make himself right at home.

Ledger dominates this movie as a living presence, a live wire, dangerous and unpredictable. It's an astonishing performance, as extravagant and free ("deranged" might be a better word) as his Ennis Del Mar in "Brokeback Mountain" was inhibited and tongue-tied. See how Ledger made the Joker his own »

And "The Dark Knight" takes him -- and its world -- very seriously.

Even more than Batman himself, the Joker would usually scream "camp" (and has in the TV series and other movies) but Nolan refuses to go there. His Gotham is cement and glass, a "real" city not so different from what we might find in any contemporary action thriller. (Chicago doubles for Batman's metropolis.)

Unlike Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher, who directed previous Batman films, Nolan favors location work over studio artifice, and he seems determined to keep the computer-generated imagery within the bounds of gravity. Even the fetishistic attention to Batman's toys -- his suit, his weaponry and transport -- emphasizes utility and design; this is not a superhero in the supernatural sense. (He may not be a hero, either, according to the serious-to-a-fault script by Nolan and his brother Jonathan.)

Don't Miss
Could Heath Ledger really win an Oscar?
TIME.com: Batman battles the bad guys
iReport.com: Share your reviews of 'Dark Knight'
"Batman Begins," which came out in 2005, was about the politics of fear, the power of nightmares. Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) overcame his own phobia to turn fear back on the fear mongers and restore hope to Gotham.

In "The Dark Knight" (Nolan must have been tempted to add "of the Soul" to the title), the Joker might be his shadow or his evil twin. In some sick way, they need each other.

"You complete me," the Joker lisps to Batman, mimicking (mocking?) "Jerry Maguire." Watch co-stars defend Ledger »

The word is nowhere stated, but this Joker is unmistakably a terrorist -- he blows up hospitals, rigs bombs to commuter ferries, burns his own ill-gotten gains. (He even manages to put Gotham's crime syndicates under his thumb.) That makes Batman a kind of one-man Department of Homeland Security. And if he has to ride roughshod over civil liberties to get the job done -- eavesdropping on the entire city's cell phone data, for example -- then so be it.

To their credit, neither Nolan nor Bruce Wayne is comfortable with this glorified vigilante figure. However, the only legitimate alternative turns out to be a civic crusader, District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).

Dent, who carries around a double-headed coin, may seem honorable, but he was once known as "Two-Faced Harvey." With whom will he cast his lot? That's the movie's ultimate ideological battleground. iReport.com: Lining up for 'Batman?' Send photos, video

Unfortunately, if Dent gives the movie a classic character arc, Eckhart's disappointingly bland performance fails to nail the narcissism that must be the flip side to his zeal, making his ultimate about-face hard to accept.

That's the film's most obvious flaw. Whenever the Joker and Batman are in the vicinity, the movie hums with finely tuned dread and anticipation. But the longer it goes on (and yes, it does go on too long), Dent triangulates the equation, ultimately pulling it out of whack.

Still, for the most part, "The Dark Knight" is an exceptionally smart, brooding picture with some terrific performances. In a summer when action overwhelms intelligence (and even good sense), here's a movie that works on many levels. It even features the single most awesome truck stunt I've ever seen.

And though Ledger's tragic death in January can't help but cast a morbid pall over the proceedings -- and that's saying something, given some of the film's plot points -- when he's on the screen the movie lights up. It's a bravura turn. I'll be surprised if Ledger doesn't get a posthumous Oscar for it.

"The Dark Knight" runs 152 minutes and is rated PG-13. For Entertainment Weekly's take, click here.

I can hardly wait!!!!!! :D

Wow!! Deep...deep movie...will dig into the very core of your being
In the trailers Heath looks insane as Joker...and yup the joker is definitely insane !! Action sequences top notch...the effects outstanding! The characters are so well-developed

Dumbfounding....explosive...masterpiece...heart-wrenching... gritty...graphic and emotionally abrasive Without going much into the storyline...these characters are pushed to the limit...morals don't exist all that matters is reaching that final goal...

There is no light at the end of this tunnel

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the Joker was the BEST acting performance I have seen.

"Let me show you a little trick. I'm going to make this pencil disappear"

Well deserved to blow the shit out of any records, hopefully it beats out all records for top movie.

I'll watch it soon enough.

Holy shit that was a great movie. I want to see it again and again and again.

darkjedi
just got home from watching it..

my mind has officially been blow. Unbelievable.

dc2696
This will be the first movie in recent years that I WILL go back and see again in the theatres, soon at that.

Absolutely amazing acting. I'm kinda sad at the fact that Heath isnt around to recieve the credit he deserves, best played character ever.

Ruiner
great movie for the most part.

However, Harvey's time as the villian was much too short.
It was slow in some parts mainly when its focused around Jim Gordon in the latter half of the movie after they capture Joker.

The good part, is that the movie started off with a good rush, well thought out scene with manipulation right from the beginning.

And the removal of the one character was needed, it gave purpose for the rest of the trio.

as for heath's acting in the movie.. I don't think the Joker could ever be played any better. His little venomous tongue flick he has, his demented twisted mind, so much evil, but so intelligence in the theory of chaos.

little_one_der
Well, I'm off to "Ever hated a movie everybody loves?"

2ndgenlude
it was pretty epic. especially in imax with with the long ass wait lol. definitely will be seeing it again soon. if you haven't seen it, see it.

anschutz_93
Saw it today; t'was good but not "go see it again tomorrow" good. Too much hype, not enough "serious". Everyone said it was dark, I found it a bit too toned down...

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE!
I liked when the Joker made the pencil "disappear", when he described how he received his scars (why sooo serious!!) but then the movie went from an awesome movie to a PG13. I expected him to put a knife in someone's throat, slash there face, but no... from that point on it was just a bunch of lame shooting and explosions which is played out. I don't know, after the first hour I was kinda forcing myself to watch the movie for no other reason than 'cause I had already paid my 15 bucks... I went in expecting to be blown away, rather I was mildly amused for a couple hours.

Fight Club was an epic movie, Batman is not.

little_one_der
Thank you anschutz_93, that's what I thought, but I couldn't find the words to express it.

Mobius
You went in to Batman expecting blood, guts and gore? Really? It's based on a comic book. Do you actually need to see someone rip another person's face apart to get the effect? A movie can't have a deranged lunatic and still be tasteful?

If cheap tricks, gaping wound make-up and graphic CGI make a movie for you, it's no wonder you were disappointed. I'm sure they'll come out with a SAW 5 for you shortly.

Invalid Zero
Anyone notice one of the "knives" they pulled off the Joker was a potato pealer?

Awesome movie. The part where Batman goes nuts in the interrogation room was chilling.

not-boosted
hahah yeah the peeler in there was good lol .

interrogation room was BA. " you never start with the head first "

awesome movie!! even though we got stuck in the first row, it was a mind-blowing movie. and Heath as the Joker was amazing. loved it and will most likely watch it again too!

GOT BOOST
Finally watched it today.

Absolutely incredible.

Heath Ledgers performance was OUTSTANDING! Creepy, chilling, cold and calculating. I loved it. :D

Batman losing in in the interrogation room was spectacular. I was not expecting that. :D

Definite recommend. 10/10

X 2.

I could not have said it differently.

SUPRAMAN
why so serious

Dark Knight was good movie, but Heath Ledger's Role as the Joker make it a great movie.
I didn't believe all the hype & thought all the talk about Heath getting a Oscar was a BS. But after seeing the movie I believe he deserves to get one. One of the best villains of all time.

kyoru
it's "why so serious" not "why so seriously",
anyways this movie was the shit. very deep, unlike any comic book movie. I never seen a movie with so many characters that are complex as this movie. This movie was so gut wrenching, the joker made me nervous to see what he would do next and the moral conflict through out the movie was out standing. The only thing I could nit pick is the way batman talks haha.

10/10

Fazda
i would have to agree, steller movie i could see it again!

rocklee_86
I laughed out loud in the theater when Joker said this:

Gamble: You think you can just come in here and take our money?
The Joker: Yeah....

Graphicdude
Heath's acting was truly epic. The story line was incredible and I love the fact it had no happy ending. Too bad that if the Joker does return there will be some incredibly huge shoe to fill and will most likely fail miserably or refuse to do the role.

I remember when Heath was announced as the Joker, Jack Nicholson was pissed that he wasn't considered for the role again. I would love to go up to him now and say "How you like them apples?!" NO ONE will ever do an outstanding job as the Joker ever again. Heath has set the bar way too high.

Too bad he had to kill himself. This is the best movie of the summer so far.

deathwarden5
Just saw it. GREAT MOVIE. The acting on Heath's part was honestly, the best I've seen. The little details, like how he flicked his tongue, made it awesome.

About half way, I did find myself getting a bit bored. It was shooting right out of the gate, then it slowed down, and then picked up again in the end.

The chick that replaced Katie Holmes did not do it for me. I really wished that Katie came back for this. That chick looked old and fugly. And she didn't do as well in that role.

Overall 9/10

Invalid Zero
At first I was happy to see Katie Holmes replaced even if it was with a hack like Maggie. Anyway, once I saw the Rachel Dawes character get blown up, I was sad it wasn't Katie Holmes.

Excellent movie. One of the best I've seen in a very long.

Joker was played perfectly. He was so believable and realistic. He took away from Batman's spotlight, but I think that was the point. Batman isn't a true superhero as he's just a man with tools to help him... and nobody showed that better than Joker.

Joker was also the only character that was truly sane throughout the entire movie. Everyone else around him lost their cool... especially when Batman was beating on him after Batman lost his mind... Joker never really loses his sanity...

Like I said, excellent movie. Go see it. Just don't watch it from the front row like I did (sucks being late).

I watched this again last night in Imax with my Dad. It was awesome this time! Great sound! No kids screaming & I didnt have to pee really bad like last time
