What is your guys take on this?
In the Racing simulator world its big news, massive back support from clubs like the SCCA and the fact they used a laser scanning device to get every bump and crack of each real world track (over 60) to make it a true simulation and testing tool enabling real world racers the ability to test and tune without the financial risk.
They also left the door open for amateur racers to get valued track time without destroying their cars or hurting anyone.
iracing
Im tempted with the advent of my racing simulator build up.
My biggest downer is the near $20.00 a month in Subscription fees. $156.00 a year if you buy 1 year at a time.
Thoughts??
Edit: Just found out they dropped the monthly from $20.00 to $13.00 |

I'm looking forward to this. It looks damn near the closest you can get since GTR2.
As for the cost, I think it's not a bad price to pay. Look at how much effort is going into this, and not only in the programming sector.
You're paying the same, or even less than, some crap MMORPG like WOW, which is nothing but a collection of half assed pixels. |

The price is pretty damn cheap any way you look at it. Consider how much you spend just going to a movie nower days and how long you spend in a seat.
Now if they come up with some time attack racing I think ill give it a try then, other then that it looks nice so far |

I wouldn't doubt they will have online Time attacks and they mentioned Geographical SCCA club sections online , so short track and autocross like the SOLO II series could be available providing clubs input and have a say in it.
They mentioned damage realism in the FAQ and that after races you don't have to pay for repairs.
Full vehicle tuning will have to be a must and it should be excessively detailed.
As for Vehicles and tracks, it'll be the pay to play setup . If the SCCA or other partners recommend a car, they will have it available, you pay for the vehicle and race to your hearts content! |

| Hmmmm, I've been thinking it's time for a new desktop. Maybe it's time to snag the Logitech wheel and pick up this game. |

yeah, I would highly recommend the G25, should be a little lower in price now too.
I just uploaded a video I was playing around with tonight and every bit of driving I did in it is Logitech g25, you can see how precise it is with the in car video. Though I won't be testing precision based on real cars on streets at over 120 Km/h so you'll have to take my word on it!
Nice cheap entertainment

Good deal!
Mine has at least 100 hours on it and it still runs great! Force feedback is bang on!
Logitech built a hell of a peice!
Im sure this will be the ideal peripheral to use for Iracing as well. though the modified ones will be more ideal for very serious enthusiasts and the track testers. |

590mb just in the tracks and cars. Thats alot to take off the net!
I'm still waiting on the software install.!
nice thing about iracing is that its all run off internet browsers, so if a problem is found they can fix it fast. (hopefully)
This is going to look absolutely sick on the 11x8 foot screen I have setup for it.!
Mobius, how far along are you right now on the downloading?
:D |

I'm stuck. For some reason it won't update. I have added and allowed the specified files through the firewall and still nothing.. I can't even run the graphics optimization wizard... not looking good so far for me.. :(
Computer is going nuts in the background.. It must be updating.. Odd though, it didn't bring up a menu.
Mobius , did you have any problems like this. The game install went the same way. Because of that , I uninstalled and started over, worked fine the second time. Ran in the background with no install sheild screen.. |

I didn't have a problem downloading the game. It downloaded, I ran the background file.
I had those problems when I tried to update as well. Get out of that quick start screen, and just do the update from the your main login page. Then you can get back to the quick start guide afterwards to do the calibration and graphic settings stuff. |

I have tried everything.! I am about to give up.. I am at a complete loss for words over how rediculous this had become, it won't update, won't load, nothing, I have browsed FAq's forums, the works.
I know its not Iracing, it worked for you . its something to do with my firewall setup and internet settings but I can't find anymore information on that.!
What antivirus are you running? |
|

NOD 32 v3
 This sucks. |

Not that I've found. Every time the car stalls, the game automatically engages the clutch and restarts it |

well, im impressed!
I did some practice laps with a guy from Virginia and he was telling me how even Dale earnhardt Jr has been spotted on the oval tracks!
its mature, I have yet to see stupidity in this simulation, I even got a mentioning to about calling it a game. Serious stuff and I can't wait to start turning laps in a race setting!
Mobius, what do you think of it as a simulation so far.? |

Yeh, I saw the rankings for Dale E. when I was browsing around the score charts. Of course he's right up near the top.
So far I'm impressed. I did see one idiot on South Boston driving all over the place, crashing into people. For the most part, it's very serious and a lot of fun. |
|
|
| fugumerkur |
I looked up Dale Earnhardt Jr, yup, hes a hard core on there.!
Finishes top 3 in almost every race he enters, mostly late models and oval tracks.!
Crazy stuff to see!
