| What determines your cars trade in value at dealerships? I know shape and condition make a difference, but how much? |

| depends on lots. blackbook value (based on condition, etc) and also how much room there is to play with numbers in the price of the new car you are moving into.... if there is a huge markup, they can take some off the price of the new car and put it on your trade to make it look like you are getting more for it, even though its the same amount off you would have paid with credits off anyways... |

Voodoo mostly. ;)
All up to the Sales Manager. If you're dealing on retail value of your purchase (high), they may try to look like good guys and give you retail on your trade, but in the end, they make their money on the sale of the new. If you've taken them down on the purchase price, the trade will also be lower... The net effect is the same. |

black book. they barely budge off it. dont forget they have to make money off your car aswell so u never get true value on a trade in unless its some hunk of junk.
youe e36 is prolly in the 7-9 thousand or more mark if u check local papers and private ads they would most likely offer u 4-5 thousand maybe 6 if its mint depending how mmuch its black book value is. |

So Kelley Blue Book price is $7,000 - $8,200 for my model.
Mine is near fully loaded (minus leather), has the sport package and premium audio package. Car's got 216xxx Km's and the interior is in great shape. The exterior has some rust, dents and needs a new fender. Also have a set of winter tires for it.
So I'm guessing I'd prolly get around 4500 for it? :dunno: |

"IF" that right now, no dealer wants to put money into a car and KBB means jack schitt to them. They go off black book which is less than KBB unfortunately. The rust dents and fender will kill the value right there, when dealers see that they account at FULL pop what it will cost to fix it (fender and paint...they will claim that's a 1k fix even if it's only 500) |

| The black book value also takes into consideration if your car can be imported from the states and how often it is imported to our country by others. Like stated above the Kelley Blue Book mean fuck all to the Canadian dealers. |

Are you saying that a car dealership = synagogue?
It'd be ironic, because Audi is a German make, and they're the people that burnt like a million Jews fifty years ago. |

| bottom line is dealerships give you jack shit for trade-in's, any idiot can go and get more money for the car by selling it privatley, unless you dont care about money or you hate your car you should trade it in, otherwise dont even bother asking the dealership what its worth. |
