| SilverFire might know... he's been messing around a lot with engine swaps & transmissions. If you're really in a bind, I have my 85 you could use if nothing else? I've met you & I'm sure I could trust you if it came to that. |

Bad news. You're pretty much stuck with an E51.
Before I go too much farther on, I just just have to say that everything after this is what I've found from my research for my turbo build, and not from experience.
The C-series transmissions appear to almost work, but one of the mounts doesn't line up. If you're willing to move it, the C52 and C56 transmissions are plenty strong enough to handle the power and torque from the GZE, though still not as tough as the E51 (which shares the internals with the E153 in the turbo SW20s). They were both mated to the 20-valves (C52 - ST & BT, C56 - BT), which are rated for more HP, and similar torque, though they have a different gearing, so you'd lose out on top end and gain some giddy-up.
They would also certainly require the axles and one of the shift cables from your parts car, as well as possibly the clutch and flywheel (there's some debate about those).
I just remembered too, you might want to look for an E58. I haven't gotten around to researching it, but it's what the AE111s with the 4A-GZEs have. You might be able to convert it like people do with the FWD C52s and C56s.
On the upside, if you need a hand with any of that, I'd love to help out. I'm really thinking hard about doing the opposite swap (C56 --> E51) and seeing first hand what's involved would be very useful. For that matter, I did move the tranny from the bad engine to the good one when it blew up, so I could probably help there too. Of course, if you have friends at a performance shop, they would probably be better anyway. |

i was looking at a couple of e58s but had a hard time figureing out the diffrence between them all since theres a few diffrent versions (lsd/early/later/ect...) and they all require diffrent axels
so i found that swap to be to complicated right now (i know i would have to drill the case and all that also)
but i might have just found a guy who could ship me a e51 (FINALY!)
il see how it turns out then il let you guys all know
thx
