The Canadian men's hockey team defeated the United States 5-2 to win gold at the Salt Lake City Games on Sunday.
Canadian men last won Olympic hockey gold 50 years ago.
The line of Joe Sakic, Jarome Iginla and Simon Gagne were more than a handful for the American defence with their blend of aggressive forechecking, raw speed and pure skill.
Sakic and Iginla scored two goals apiece to lead Canada to the win.
Sakic scored the game-winner late in the second period and notched the fifth goal late in the third.
Iginla, who was a late invitee to the unofficial Team Canada training camp before the NHL season opened, scored the game-tying goal and the insurance marker that finally gave Canada some breathing room at 16: 01 of the third.
Sakic also added two assists, while Paul Kariya scored Canada's first goal.
Tony Amonte and Brian Rafalski scored for the United States. |

| I think if luck was on our side we would have had atleast another 3 goals. I personally thought that US was lucky they only lost 5-2! |

I'm just surprised that we won considering how bad we started off the Olympics. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
