ZR1 sounds fantastic. Not sure what to get out of this, people claim that the gtr is faster in the corners and such, i dont see it though. they look pretty even. if anything video got a pretty nice sound track.

edit: lots of air(sound) in the later parts of the video ie. the run to 175mph.

the ZR1 is significantly faster than the GTR. In all performance aspects. The GTR is a heavy beast. More power, less weight = easy win for the ZR1.
The only reason the GTR can keep up is its fast shifting transmission and short gearing. If you did a 6th gear pull in the both cars, the ZR1 would easily destroy the GTR by a land-slide.

The GTR's official ring time was a joke.

The ZR-1 is easily a better performing car.

Invalid Zero
Son of a bitch do C6 Vettes give me wood. What I wouldn't do for a C6 Z06.

I love GTR's but Vette's are amazing

Not really a fair comparison once you place the ZR1 to the GTR. IMO this comparison falls under the "apples to oranges" scenario. Wouldn't the regular Z06 be the right comparison for the GTR and the ZR1 compared to the upcoming GTR V Spec?

GTR VS. Z06
GTR V-spec VS. ZR1

:dunno:

Damn the ZR1 is so sexy....

My god the sound of that engine is better than sex...

Tech2
I'd love to see the endurance version of this matchup.

Funny thing is the GTR is not even the stock US version. It is a "Ringer" Jap version with Race gas, Not stock tires and a tuned computer.

I would like to see the times of a REAL STOCK NA GTR. I have a feeling a Z06 would beat it easy.

GQsmooth
so where's all the domestic GM haters now?:fingersx:

well nissan hasn't released any info on the V-Spec so really the only thing to compare it to is the current outgoing model GTR as it is the benchmarker. Being that Chevy has the King of the Hill mentality i bet they have something in the works for the V-Spec. ah horsepower wars could be very interesting next 5 years.

ringer or not it is the bench mark.

I really do suspect that both manufacturers are playing around with tires, gas, & ecu. They really need a 3rd party tester and regulations for these lap times, until then these arguments are ridiculous.

Even Toyota is jumping into the fray and saying that their
Lexus LF-A does it in 7:24.

What is a few seconds over a 7 minute course?
Who is planning on buying either car within the next few years?
Who can even drive close to the skill of those professional drivers?

Tech2
Yeah, I'd imagine that day to day weather differences would be about able to make the small differences in time. Hence the endurance race idea.

Anyways 1 vote for the gtr if were to win the 6/49.

GTR in snow

GTR first part of video, ZR1 second part of video.

Correction. Was the benchmark for a few weeks.:blue: I highly doubt Porsche will rest with either of these two taking honours at their own local track.

The ZR-1 did cheat, a bit. They apparently shaved the stock tires before running.
