short shifter install - Click HERE for Original Thread

NathanRed
did everyone get theres yet that did the forbidden group buy??? we should set up a day to install these let me know whos interested

NightmareMX6
I am down for that but not no word if the shifter is in. Did you get yours?

NathanRed
yeah i got mine yesterday

NightmareMX6
so adam must have got mine then too.

Prudz_lude
negatory. I have yet to get ours for some reason.

mike3
Make sure you guys have a dremel to cut out part of the center console, and some grease for the new shifters.

Prudz_lude
dremel is only needed for the shortest setting, but i am sure everyone is going to put it on the shortest setting :p

NightmareMX6
4 forbidden suggests that you use the middle setting.

NathanRed
i also read u should do a tranny flush at the same time

mike3
Tranny flush isn't a huge deal.... If you don't know the last time it's been done, its probably time to drain it and add new stuff.... It's sort of a PITA but if you have the right funnel it's not too bad. If you change the fluid I would reccoment GM Synchro mesh. It's twice as expensive, but still only $20 for 2L

NathanRed
yeah i was thinking of going that route i heard it gives smoother shifts plus i have hear on prelude power people getting grinds after they installed there short shifter

Prudz_lude
shortshifter adapters, not the fm shifter. Mike, you can actually fill the tranny from the top where the vss is. It allows for a fuller fill ;)

NathanRed
adam read the thread man people who installed the fm one are getting grinds

mike3
Short Shifters are a little hard on the tranny. It wouldn't make a difference if it was an adapter, or actual shifter.
The short shifter acts as if you're shifting really fast into every gear when you still move your hand at normal speed. It doesn't mean your tranny is going to die soon by all means, just take precautions where you can.

...As for filling through the VSS I've never though about that before.... still a PITA though... I found a new funnel at crappy tire that works pretty good though

2ndgenlude
filling the tranny is easy. just make sure you can get the fill bolt off before draining it. just use a funnel with a piece of garden hose attached. its the same diameter as the fill hole, fits snug right in. as for a shifter install day sure, just need a place to do it. how many people bought one? we could probably do it at my warehouse if there isn't too many people. its pretty full right now.

NightmareMX6
I think 3 or 4 of use bought one, but minus one for the install cause his engine is out of his car so he can't get to the warehouse lol :p

2ndgenlude
ya we could use the warehouse. might have to organize it a bit lol. maybe fit 2 cars in at a time.

NathanRed
sounds good to me, let us know when works for you tyler we should probably also do the tranny fluid at the same time let me know what u guys think

NightmareMX6
I don't need fluid as I did an engine swap not too long ago, and they changed it.
Adam did you get them in the mail yet? If so this sunday could work for me.

NathanRed
so when are we going to do this?

NightmareMX6
When adam tells me he has my shifter.

Beagles
he has secretly installed it on his bike ryan... sorry but you'll have to order another

NathanRed
has anybody got theres yet besides me? shit im tempted to sell mine lol

2ndgenlude
don't think anyone else got them yet lol, this is giving forbidden a really bad image. i don't think i will ever order a shifter from him just due to him taking way to long.

NathanRed
Ya man looks really bad but if u buy mine u don't have to deal with him lol its funny that I got mine tho

fartcannon
what happened is he was short about 15 shifters apparently. The rest of us are still waiting. Apparently mine was at the lastest suppose to show up today...i get home at 9pm. we will see....
