Just wanted to vent a little bit and tell you fellow NECC members on how much the ezcc (NOT all but some) is a bunch of stuck up old ignorant pukes who think it's funny to make fun of other cars. I just got back from their little meet in Sherwood park and I show up in my Z and for those who haven't seen my car, it' s done up the way I like it and obviously not "stock" looking. My car was a target because unlike the majority of the other Z's and what not there, I had a spoiler, scoop and rims and boy did they get a kick out of that. They went as far as questioning why I put things on my car and how it looks strange and yes they are intitled to their opinion but hey if you don't like it say nothing. That's certainly not a way to welcome more fellow Z owners. I'm so dissapointed in the way I was treated, I thought I'd like to let you other Nissan Enthusiasts be aware of how you could be treated if you meet a few of these jerks if you don't meet their "standards." There was one individual in particular with blonde hair, a young guy with a 84 Z31 Turbo whom thought it would be funny to mock everything about my car as I drove out of the show. I know this because as I drove off one of my brothers who was there and witnessed this and told me about others as well who participated in this imature act.
So again this is not directed to all the Edmonton Z Car Club members but those 5 or 6 people who are that ignorant to make fun of me behind my back :finger: . In the long run you'll get what's coming to you. ;) |

| It was the first time I saw your car in person I have to say I was impressed. The other cars just made it look like it was a showroom from '84. |

I was wondering why you too off so quickly after only being there for about an hour. Sorry to hear the bashing about your ride and I do know exactly who you are speaking of..red shirt..beige slacks..blonde hair, looks like a sales rep right? This would probobly be an issue to speak to Jason about as he is the president of the Z club and I'm sure he'll resolve this matter at the next Z meet.
As for your car being a target for insult, non the less .. don't forget the age diffeence between yourself and other members in the club. You have to remember your car is like nothing the average public sees on a normal city street, so at first it's gonna be a little shocking but then gradually people will inquire about the car and that's when you come in to tell them about the mods.
Look forward to seeing you at the next NECC meet. |

| First off thanx DeathBy240, you had a phat ride man, Aaron and I were admiring it. And Curtis, yes that was exactly the gentlemen and I have to agree with the whole age conception, it's one thing for constructive critasicm and an other to bash. See ya at Kelsey's bud... |
|
|
| 1mns13 |
| You hit in on the head. Bashing is not constructive. New blood is teh only way an organization survives. Keeping a car showroom stock is not creative but does show appreciation. I wish these "bashers" all the luck with thier "club". |

That blonde hair guy w/ the 84 turbo, it's the same colour as mine, his name is Arel.... He thinks anything that isn't stock isn't good, IMO I think he's a putz when it comes to that.
I actually must say, I think I'm the youngest paid EZCC member out there at only 19.... most of the other members are double my age, with the exception of Inzane....
Some are really cool, and like everything and some are stuck up old bums... :) Oh well, tis life!
Just be proud of your car Andru don't let some jerk ruin your fun~! |

I'm sorry to hear this guys. I was unaware that this was going on yesterday. What you are describing is exactly what I was hoping to avoid when bringing the two groups together.
First off I have to say that Andru's Z31 was one of the nicer condition examples of that generation that I saw there yesterday. And I did hear some positive comments from others, in particular your custom "Z" taillights were mentioned.
This isn't the first time that that Andru (Zazam) has been at an EZCC show. You were at the June 2002 and June 2003 shows as well, if I recall. Did you get this feeling/treatment EVERY time, or just yesterday?
I will have to give some thought on how best to deal with this. It will definately get some discussion, either with the individuals or at the next meeting.
But in the meantime please don't write off the entire EZCC based on the actions or words of a few. Times are changing and people and organizations have to learn how to evolve and adapt. It may just take some time. |
|
|
| Zazam |
| Once again this was NOT directed to you Jason nor all of the EZCC but to those 5 or 6 people who coundn't maintain a mature courtesy or respect for my Z. Arel was one of the individuals whom was just a plain a$$hole! You'd think some one of that age could be a little more mature but I guess with age doesn't always come maturity  . But it's a done issue, I just wanted to let others here on 780 tuner, who are maybe debating whether to join EZCC or NECC or neither be aware of some unwritten "standards" the EZCC has. Now it's pretty clear to me why the EZCC does not have many "young" members. Best of luck to you and the EZCC, but that however is the last time I participate in anymore events held by the EZCC... |

It's a shitty deal when you try to mingle with others while a generation gap exists.
Most of the guys I choose to hang around with are usually pretty open about cars and stuff, but to knock a guys car when you're has nothing on it in relation to performance is downright rude. |

| Give the old farts a chance, you caught them off guard, they were acting immature and all with their little clique thing going on. It's like high school, you're the new kid. Until people get to know you, they will act standoffish and whisper, that kind of crap. You would expect more from the older peeps, but old habits die hard. You would think someone there would have welcomed the new guy. Your car wasn't too their taste, oh well they can learn to deal with it. I don't know how many times I have mentally criticized someones riced up ride IMO without knowing who they are and what they are about. Is that the right attitude for me to have, heck no, but unfortunately its human nature. Hopefully some of the members are on this forum and will read your comments and examine their behavior and if you should go back to another event, welcome you with open arms and an apology. P. |

Actually this was not the first event I took part in so I wasn't really the new guy, I had been there to a couple of their meetings held at Sherlock Holmes Pub (it used to be held there) and show and shines held by the EZCC. Actually Jason "Inzane" stated:
"This isn't the first time that that Andru (Zazam) has been at an EZCC show. You were at the June 2002 and June 2003 shows as well..." (which I had been)
So I really wasn't the new guy. If they wanted to get to know me that had plenty of time to ask or comment then.
Secondly as I stated that NOT all of the members were that childish, Jason was one of the nicest guys there amoungst a few others whom welcomed me. But for those other 5 or 6 people, they should their head a shake and grow up and not act like little school girls that they are  . I hope others learn from my mistake and be aware of some of the childish people in that particular club  It's a done deal and I'm not mad about it anymore so I guess :gives: |

I hope your not insinuating that Jason " Inzane " has commented on your ride as being ricey, because that would be the last comment he would ever make to someone in the Z club or the NECC. Becareful how you phrase your words especially when we are dealing with someone who has done nothing but give a positive responce to drivers in both clubs. |

Thanks Curtis but actually I did, oh back about a year and a half ago the first time I saw it, when Mike's car was just an NA with a big aluminum spoiler, banner across the windsheild, underglo neon and washer nozzles, etc. But his car has undergone LOTS of changes since, and earned respect for what he's done with it. Mike even admited to me once that his car "used to be rice". Hopefully Mike & I made peace on that long ago and its a dead issue.
I guess it goes to show you anyone can be guilty of this. I'm sure everyone at one time or another has commented negatively on a car they saw that they didn't like. Look at all the people bashing the musclecars in Aaron's thread over in the general forum. That's no different or less bad than someone bashing imports.
Anyway, guys I'd appreciate if people here would stop with the old fags, old bums, old fart etc. comments. It doesn't display any more maturity on your end to strike back with petty name calling.
You know the saying "two wrongs don't make a right". |

times change and ppl change.
Let's hope the times change with us, b/c the Z club will run outta members if they disrespect young members rides.... I still go and I still enjoy myself. For the few the give my car dirty looks b/c it isn't the best specimen out there there are ppl like Jason and Mike (Z32 guys) who make it worth while :) |

thats right, the issue is dead, Jason and me had gone through this and ended in peace.
the reason I took this example out its because everyone can say whatever they think about others' car, theres nothing wrong with them its just a taste difference, you see lots of fast imports with GT wings on the back, do you call that rice? yes you do, but they are fast. so who cares?a word can hurt the tunner but doesnt hurt your car. as long as you know what you doing, everything is fine. NECC is growing, so does this city, sooner later you will see more respectful cars than rice, its just a time issue. maybe later you will be the one judging all the next generation ricers.
Let it grow, Let it blow, Period. |

This is a nice little sewing circle that's going on here. Guess who I am! I am none other than the despicable hood scoop and spoiler interrogator -- the fiend in the red shirt -- the Grand "stuck up old ignorant puke".
I didn't realize that it was a crime to ask somebody about their car. And I didn't realize that my approval or disapproval would shake their world. Just for the record, I thought the spoiler looked better than the stock one, and my opinion is still divided about the hood scoop, because I think it should have a hole under it.
I would like to thank those "brothers who was there and witnessed this" who value my opinion so highly that they follow me around like spin doctors behind the president trying to tell everyone what the meaning of "is" is. To those who would relate what I am thinking to others, I will offer some tips. When I smile, I am pleased. When I hold up the middle finger of my right hand, I am displeased. And when people do not correctly relate what I am thinking to others, I am holding up the middle finger of my right hand.
This is not rocket science, this is cars. If you like your car, it shouldn't matter if anybody else does. I have an '81 Mustang with 3 wheels, and I love that car. Some people would say, "It doesn't change lanes well." Some would say, "It wonders at high speed." I say it just needs a set of shocks and a talented driver, and I love that car. I love the way it leans to one side when it's parked, I love the way the rust shows through the paint, I love the little holes that were left in the hatch when we ripped off the spoiler, I love the left front fender that we keep in the garden shed, and if you don't love it, then that's okay. 'Cause I don't even care enough to lift up the middle finger of my right hand, and you don't have to drive it.
Now are you all ready? Got your thread? Got your needle? Got your thimble? |

I mean, really...
Do you expect instant respect at a car club? I'm a member of the aforementioned Z club and I still do my own thing without regret to my ride, irrespective of what other club members think. I'm 35 and I just installed neon on my JBL amp, and guess what, I'm a co-editor of the newsletter. Lose the attitude and get to know the members of the club. If they blow you off or are not receptive to your mods, move on. You'll find kindred spirits elsewhere. If you show up at a meet and don't get the kind of respect you expect... carry on! Are you going to let a bunch of of folk tell you how your car should be modded?
Just beause you are offended by the attitudes of a bunch of people, don't whine, find the group who respects what you do. Talk to people at the car meets, don't blow off the show when you hear some negative comments. Laugh, talk, joke, even if you are offended. Participate first, be big, ask why they are making comments, and only then, move on.
Be true to yourself and your ride,
Respectfully  |
