Uhhhh, how about NOPI's drag racing events?

not-boosted
they just pulled out so they can still walk to the bank with pocket fulls of money. this will have a huge impact on the entire industry. If no one is going and no one is buying parts EVEN the big name company's could shut down . :dunno: not good at all even tho the biggest part of nopi is the rice fest

Who actually pays any attention to import drag racing anyway? It won't affect us in Alberta in any way.

I know NOPI as the half hour rice fest that you see on Speed once and a while. Where there is nothing but rolling movie theaters that used to be cars, dumb chicks in bikinis dancing around with pre-pubescent boys taking cell phone pics, FWD fibreglass Civic and Celica dragsters, and for some reason they dub some stupid retard girly giggle into the music every 30 seconds.

Oh and their mascot looks straight up 1990.

But this is just my opinion. You could tell me the NFL, NBA, CFL, NFL, MBA are all going belly up and I wouldn't care either. :dunno:

NOPI has been a :beathorse as well as irrelevant for a number of years now, thanks to the gross short-sightedness the whole marketing section of this industry has shown.

heres my .02cents..... what you see on T.V is a poor example of what actually goes on at the sportsman level of sport compact drag. the nopi drag series is a huge part of the honda scene, whether you guys are into that or not it does affect us who enjoy the honda brand. nhra just recently dropped their sport compact series into the laps of nopi, and now that nopi has shut down their is nothing for sport compact drag short of boti.

the sport compact drag series has pushed the development of a ton of the parts we use, manufactures have been stepping up over the years and developed new products to further push the envelope.

its really too bad that they shafted everybody part way through the season. i'm hoping that sport compact drag will recover, i really enjoyed the way the sport was progressing.

Go on honda-tech.com, check out the drag racing forum. See how many dozens of people compete in the sportsman classes. There are more Hondas running deep 9's on that board than we have sport compacts going 11's in all of Alberta. Sportsman racing is big in the US, and with the NDRA not running this year all that's left is the NHRA. Takes a big chunk out of organized import racing.

I think their mascot is a bag of shit and the car show sucks, but the racing is pretty damn good.

Fair enough. Just will never warm up to the look of a fiberglass FWD race car with gigantic slicks up front and pizza cutters on the rear. I don't care if they run 2's.

SR20_FC
That's sad.

NOPI(as a retail supplier) has been around from the beginning, even before the Honda scene hit with the V-dub stuff.

The NOPI events are a huge part of the "tuner" level enthusiast, as it is probably the biggest events for the everyday enthusiast.

I hope this takes a turn next year and NOPI gets their things in order.

Twigs_Dee
whats a honda?!? A 90's version of the Mullet or something?!??!

from the way things sound, even if they did nobody would race at thier events, they screwed all the racers.

it appears boti is stepping up to accomodate the pro racers that were left hanging by nopi.

uncle ben
the good news is that the NOPI swimsuit girls are looking for work, maybe its time to hire a new secretary.

"mrs. smith, after you get me the henderson file you can take your lunch, but make sure your back at 1:00 for the lunch room wet t shirt contest"

There's one members car that runs 9's. GT42R on a B18C1. Most of the sportsman cars are stock bodies with 24.5" slicks that stick out of the fenders a little bit.

Invalid Zero
Nothing wrong with that. ^ If he wanted he could throw a set of 17's on it and drive it home. It's still a real car.

This is the crap I hate. Seriously, who looks at this and thinks "cool!!!!"?

tokes
Yeah, I agree.

I wasn't trying to start a pissing match, just stating that there are other cars there rather than rather ugly proFWD cars.

That car's gone 9.9@152 first pass out, which I think is pretty respectable for what started off as an econobox :D
