Fuel System help - Click HERE for Original Thread

Prelude21
Hey guys my old ladies POS sunfire is busted. Its a 2001 SE with a 2.2L. The fuel pumps sounding a little sick when I turn the key, but didnt know if a filter could contribute to that. I was wondering if anyone knew where the filter(s) are and how simple it could be to pull the tank and replace the pump if needed.

Thanks

I had a 97 Cav, and I remember when it started it made a wierd sound... althought I can't think of anything specific that makes the same sound. I guess it's like a medium-high pitched vibrating sound. I can't really describe it, and I don't know if this is the same sound you're hearing... or even if the 97's and 01's share the same fuel system or not. Anyways, I haven't touched the pump or filter yet (that I know of) and it's still running strong (I sold it to my brother).

When I turn the key you hear the fuel pump engage, make the usual electrical hum, then sounds like its almost slurping, like if you take a straw and just start sucking from the very top of the 'water' or what.

Ahh... I don't think we're hearing the same sound. I remember the start-up hum, but my sound was immediately after the engine fired up. Other than that, I have no clue what the problem could be. Sorry.

Hey, im stuck again. Seems like the fuel pump may be working. I pulled out the pulgs and checked them, they look good, and even though i let the fuel pump run and pumped the gas the plugs were still dry... think it could be a plugged line or filter?
