New NSX to hit 10,000 RPM - Click HERE for Original Thread

Honda's love to rev...

Kind of a shitty picture, but it certainly looks like a 9,500 to 10,000 rpm redline.

Looks like an 8500 redline to me. :dunno:

Gargoyle25

i'm inclined to agree, looks like 8500 :(

8500 is probably the orange line... just a guess tho :)

Gargoyle25
strangely enough my mom drives a civic not an accord, a friend of mine drives an accord, but it's just a 4 cylinder one

but that still doesn't answer the question anyway

Since when do cars rev right to the last number? They don't. Manufacturers always set the redline 1500-2000 RPM from the end of the tach.

Nah, my NSX will do 8200 on a 9000 rpm tach.

It looks like the orange zone is above 8K. But maybe not. Need a better pic!

Uh.. maybe its a honda thing then cause most hondas redline is like 1200rpm less then the end of the tach.. and rev limiter like 600-800 less and most rev 400 or so rpm into the redline.

All civic SIR clusters show 9k, and the redline starts at 8200 and they rev to 8400

A prelude can rev to 8800 on a tac that says 8800...Your not making power on a stock H22 after 7500 most of the time but it can still rev out that far. Drop some cams in it and have a built block and you can make power all the way to 8800 :p

We were talking stock rev limiter / redline

Preludes do NOT have a 8800rpm stock rev limiter.

iirc Redline 7600, rev limiter 7800

false, you can rev them to the end of the tac. How do i know? go and try it. The obd1 h22's can, but in the obd2 (1996) they cap off at 7800. But like i said, it is completely pointless to ever rev that high with stock internals. No power is being made, only engine wear.

Wrong, stock tachs arent 100% accurate, they will read higher by 500-700 and the higher you go the more off it is.

Hook up hondata in your car, and turn on datalogging and tell me what the ecu reads as the RPM peak and tell me what your gauge reads, I tell you it will read different.

My rev limiter is set to 6500

My tach shows 7ish when i hit rev cut

I will glady unhook my S300 and hook it up in your car with a stock H22 map and datalog it ;)

fartcannon
you've been pm'd!

Ayeso
Nm i see you have a 2001 Lude, so it wouldnt work as you are obd2b :P

fartcannon
^ seriously read the pm, you'll understand soon.;)

I got that flashing too many times yesterday. And still 390 kms to a tank. :D

oldraven
So, redline at 8,500? We're expecting it to start making power at 8,000 then? ;)
