Are they rwd or fwd, I'm not sure????

My cousin is selling one and it seems nice... what do you guys think about these older styled maximas??? 5 speed, lowered, and rims by the sounds of it....? I have to do some more checkin on it, just something I heard from my dad and he thought it may be a good car for me...?

Inzane
I'm pretty sure its always been a FWD car.

redbaron303
are they a decent gooddriving car, the older ones?

89-94 Maxes are great cars. The Maxima(810) was RWD to 1984.

This is what I like about sites like this. There's potential to learn something new every day!

THe one i'm looking at has had ALOT of mechanical work done to it and supposidly doesn't have much if any rust.... it's it's not a bad deal IMO, i would really like RWD, but I think i can sacrifice, + then i'm in a cheaper insurance bracket b/c the car is a "family" car!

redbaron303
Well I bought the car, and it's in pretty damn good condition for the money... :D

Anyways, thinking of ways to mod it a little bit... on the vg30 motor you can swap out a 240sx throttle body, now if I did this to my motor could I then attach an aem cold air intake that is slightly modified?! I would like a rai or cai and I can't seem to find one... Stillen make a cone filter for it...

I also want strut tower braces front and rear...

Spike7ss
i dont think you could get a strut brace for the back to the the fact the struts are hidden up behind the rear seat and under the parcel shelf, unless you made some major modifacations to your car

Would something like this be similar to the situation you have in the maxima?
Carbing Brand

Dunno where to get one though.

Add spinners!

redbaron303
Marlowe you have a link for that stuff?
sorry collusus I won't be putting spinners on it.....

Here is a question, it may sound dumb but meh...

I havean 89 VG30E in my car currently.... is it feasible to think about swapping in the VG30ET from a Z31? I've seen it done and put in a fwd pulsar (ice racer), so would I just turn the motor and everything should bolt up???? or not so much...

The newer maximas (97+ se) have the VQ30.... is that something that is swapable as well???? Then I'd probably have to swap in the 6spd tranny w/ that too?!

Insomniac
Seems to me that you are daydreaming about ways to waste money on a 15 year old family car :wtf:

redbaron303
ya.... why not...?! :D

I could just happen to have a spare VG30ET sittin around.... lookin for a new home.

Insomniac
What happend to the Acura? That's a better car to play with.

redbaron303
That's a very long long story..... pm me if you want to know.
