| will a 5mge tranny match a 7mgte? |
|

a tranny made for 145 to 175 hp on a motor which puts out roughly 230hp at 5psi according to toyota. why not just order a r154. even a w58 with an upgraded clutch would be able to take the power of a 7mgte. they are both not overly expensive.
edit: sorry that did not answer your question.
What year of car did this transmission come out of? |

| The 5MGE tranny would be a W58, which does not bolt up to the 7MGTE. The transmission you want is an R154. |

the w58 will bolt to the 7mgte just fine assuming it came off of a 5m and not a 22r. you have to use the flywheel and clutch from the 5mge.
it will also hold the power of a stock 7mgte just fine.
there can be other issues though, is this in a mk3 or for a swap into another car? |

w58 will bolt up to a 7mgte fine and as stated will will hold fine at stock power lvls. however the w58 is not recommened to go past 300hp with out internal work. I have used both r154 and w58 and the w58 is such a nicer tranny to drive and much smoother but it will not hold up well to abuse and high power.
just to compare the trannys:
as you can see the r154 has much more beefer internals |

| Haha, well shit. I thought the bolt patterns were different, not just the clutch and flywheel.:dunno: |
