It's good to see 780 supporting the racing scene by throwing the 2008 Rexall Edmonton Indy race up on the front page. That said, you guys missed a support race!
The Northern Alberta Sports Car Club will be putting on a hell of a show once again this year with the GT Invitational! A total of 51 cars this year are entered for the NASCC's 51st anniversary as Northern Alberta's own racing club.
Be sure to check out all the action and come out and support the NASCC! The GT race will take place on Friday afternoon.
A little info on the NASCC:
Founded in 1957, the NASCC organized its first sports car race August 16,1958 at the Edmonton International Airport. It's first ice Race was held on Lac St. Anne at Alberta Beach, on January 8,1961. Countless rallies and slaloms have been run.
Although Canada's national FIA - related organization has changed, the NASCC has always been affiliated with the Geneva based FIA. Therefore, NASCC members have always enjoyed connection to international motorsports.
NASCC motorsports are family activities. Children and even grandchildren of NASCC members are now active in the club.
Many NASCC members have gone on to play roles in prominent international motorsports, having learned to prepare and drive cars and organize events in the competitive yet supportive environment of the NASCC.
The club also supports the community; for example, it has been involved with CHED's Santa's Anonymous for over 30 years. |

| Those are great races, I find them more exciting to watch than the Indy race |

| The open wheel races tend to turn into a high speed lapping session, the NASCC race has spins, crashes, and every type of car you can think of. |

| Is there anyway to see an entry list for the NASCC event? Maybe Im looking in the wrong area, or just not looking hard enough.. |

| I am pretty sure the last version of the entry list was just completed on the weekend so its not posted up anywhere. I do know that a lot of the guys from last season will be there. I would assume Conroy is entered. |

Jack is driving a 97 integra eh.. HA HA HA... Right... if you call a carbon kevlar k20a turbo RWD tube frame race car that looks like a late 80s dodge daytona a DC integra..
I see that they moved you down to GTP2 Conroy, I bet your a little more happy being classed there.
You don't need a paddock pass to come see the GT cars, so come down and talk to the guys. We don't bite so feel free to ask questions.
Apparently the NSX is extreamly loud, or at least thats what I heard from the guys at the race school in calgary. |

| I am always excited for the GT class to race even more so than for the other races. I wish you luck again Conroy and I am anxious to see your car as well as Wouter Bouman as his 20b Rx7 was ridicoulous as well. |

It's nice to see Reg on the list again. I guess he must've rebuilt his car after last year, or are they running a new car now? Is he driving it himself this year?
Also, what happened to the Fiero? I don't see it on the list. |

Jack isn't bringing the Fiero, it's in Colorado.
He's bringing his IMSA dodge powered by a Honda. |

they rebuilt reg's car...i think.
i was in Van this weekend and was at force performance. its a rx high perf shop. anyway sounds like the 20b car is going to be even more nuts this year. over 700rwhp and a full sequencial dog box trans. from what Marko was telling me it will be awesome.
as for my car i am very excited to get out there as i have proper race slicks this year and some good brembo brakes and have a few extra susp bits so im hoping for a good run as well. and gt2 should be good as i may have a shot at a decent finish in class. |

NASCC race was the best race of the day. Poor RX7s and that NSX. Tough luck! Good racing tho. That Corvette is fasssssst. |

| How did conroy and trent do? |
|
|
| 4kruzn |
5th and 6th in class
10th and 11th over all.
side note... trent had the fastest in class single lap time of the feature race! 126.5 seconds.
my fastest was 127.9 !!! i need more power!!!!!
just for comparison trent and i finished 17th and 18th over all last year.
So i guess this year was really good. I got top 5th in class 10th over all and picked up about 4.5 seconds per lap from last year... fun was had.
Trent had some bad luck with brakes and a proformance stock car door..... ill let him explaine. but he still did really well. |

Congrats, glad to hear you guys did well and are safe!
I tried my best to get out of work but couldn't make it. Post any pics or vids you have..

Conroy's making us sounds slow. Our best laps were 1:27.9 and 1:26.5, so actually 87.9 seconds and 86.5 seconds. The overall winning GT1 Corvette was running 83 second laps.
As for the contact with the #24 stock car, I lost brakes completely at the end of the back straight (turn 9 I think they were calling it, just before you turn east towards the hairpin). I went for the brakes and the pedal hit the floor. I pumped four good times, had a tiny bit of pedal, but no stopping power at all. Pitched the car sideways, dropped a gear and held the gas to try and burn off some speed. I just happened to slide through the corner and hit the #24 right in the door. His stock car took the hit square on the door bars and just scraped the fiberglass. My #27 did a little worse. We spent about two hours with hammers and a 10,000 lbs ratcheting tie strap to bring the back end of my car back out. In the end I found a brake duct had worked loose and wasn't allowing air to the left side rotor, likely causing the brake fluid to boil (600 degree fluid, less than two weeks old). For the main race I fixed the duct and built some stainless heat sheilds I put behind the brake pads. The brakes were spongy the whole race, but they didn't fade. Lesson is horsepower is fun, but without top notch brakes you can get into trouble pretty quick.
I'll be fitting some kind of big brake setup in the next few weeks.

You guys were both quick and I was definitely impressed with your fastest lap, very good.
Next year you guys can work on top three, but next year you may or may not be in GT1. ;)
Anyway, good effort made by all! You guys put on a hell of a show!
Why do I organize instead of race again? |

Hopefully, I may one day be able to participate in such a race. |

You get a competition license in May, run at least two races beforehand, submit your entry fee & application and you're good to go. |

| I don't even want to know where they are going to class the corolla... if it has a v8 your likley looking at GT1, if your lucky you might end up in GT2. Brakes are going to be a huge issue. |
