My new pseudo cold air intake - Click HERE for Original Thread

Gargoyle25
I finally got all the pieces to my "custom" pseudo cold air intake

it is a cold air intake, but it's sort of a compromise, with this design you don't need to cut anything out of the car, relocate your battery or anything, but you do have to collect the parts yourself and cut the tubing and whatnot, and the filter and all the tubing are in the engine bay, no big deal really

the tubing heats up quite a bit so i want to see about getting it insulated somehow

i think this is the same set up Keegan is getting

here are a few pics i took today, sorry about the colour, it
was really sunny out when i took them with my phone, enjoy!!

like my custom hood prop?:D

you can have a closer look at the meet this friday if you want

STiPWR
Why not position the filter in the fender or behind the bumper?

Gargoyle25
this was easier and i didn't really want to cut holes in my car, silly maybe, but it works

b18b.eg
that ractive thing looks ridic if you were that hurting for a intake i could of hooked you up. ask prudz snorkle stylez.

Gargoyle25
i wasn't hurtin for one, i got this because it was simple and cheap, i did notice a difference as well

2ndgenlude
ya putting the filter in the fender would be a much better idea. looks a little funny, but if it works thats what counts :) your still getting cold air. 1st time ive seen a filter half way down the intake though :p

yeah fucking take it off and put a pipe in or something. damn

Gargoyle25
sorry if you don't like it, but i got this design of pp.com, it was cheap, easy, it works, and quite a few people have done it

it may not be the best setup, but it will work. no reason to be a dick about it. i never said anything when your engine bay was purple

:p

Ok so the housing came off, BUT what do i do with the tubing that was connected to it?

purple is the color of royalty.

Beagles
actually, ignore my previous post, but still look at the picture... the little tube (Looks like one of the injector ones) should it be plugged? or left open?

Its the little one that is connected to where the blue cord goes into the engine..

2ndgenlude
you can get rid of anything in the fender. basically once your intake is in, make sure your vac lines are intact/hooked up and your done. anything left over can be taken out.

Gargoyle25
yeah, what 2ndgenlude said, you can remove all the old plastic crap, what you'll end up with is tubing that goes right into the throttle body from the filter, then theres the rubber hose that connects the tubing (between the filter and tb) that goes to the valve cover, thats all

if that made any sense that is

btw purple as far as i know is the colour of royalty, insanity, and to a lesser extent homosexuality, probably mostly because most straight guys don't like purple, check it out here http://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...amp;term=purple

Beagles
The little tube, under the black piece, and to the right of the red hose, am i supposed to plug it because right now me n my step dad shoved a lil screw in there to...? or do leave i it open? We were thinking of getting a little more tubing, and making it look like a T to hook that lil thingy back up..

On the stock filter it went into the intake piping.

Also, this thing was a bitch to fit, we had to not only cut the S pipe, but the elbow, and then another piece of the S pipe again.... it wasnt fitting nicely =\

 BTW, real men wear pink, purple though... now thats kinda iffy... each to there own.

Fazda
well the big blue ugly looking thing, well it kinda looks ugly, but if it works than thats all the counts!

Gargoyle25
Can it wait til friday? You can see what i did and we can figure out yours, i have time before the meet i could even go to your place
I didn't have to plug anything tho, it was really straight forward when i did it

Beagles
your lucky.. we had a bitch of a time.

Gargoyle25
do you have the b21? because that would explain why i don't have any idea what you are talking about, and any other differences

literally, mine was that easy, take off ALL old intake, check size for first elbow, cut, put blue hose from tubing to valve cover, then fit filter on, put on 4-3 coupler, size for last elbow, cut

it took some jimmying, but it all went in without much fuss, the tubing was actually only about 2-1/2" not 3" but the left over sleeve the intake kit came with can be used to make the last bit of tubing fit more snuggly into the coupler

i only had one piece of small tubing come off the old intake and it was replaced on the new intake with the blue hose, if you had more hoses, i don't know

Beagles
u know it probaly is because of the b21... fucking engine lol

Gargoyle25
yeah, i love my engine, so did you get it figured out now?

Beagles
oh yeah it was installed the same day... i just dont know what i should do with 2 things....

Gargoyle25
oh ok, i thought you hadn't finished installing it because you didn't know what to do with those things, we'll figure it out at the meet

Beagles
yeah i was just like.. well i dont know wtf these are going to do now, so ill drive the car to see if it will blow up.

It didnt blow up, but im definately not use to a deeper sound... im use to "smashin the gas" and hearing that mini beasts high pitched wrrrrrrrrr rather than a deep GRRRRRR

Edit: so i guess that means my car hit puberty, and now is out of it?
