| Just cause I don't know what a 180 is doesn't mean I don't know how to paint and do body work. I am a ticketed automotive tech and I have been doing it for 8 years. I have tons of pictures of work I have done. And I'm not giving out where I work during the day cause I don't need people showing up there. This is side work and goes nowhere near where I work during the day ... I have cheap prices and I don't NEED the extra money. So I don't deal with young punks who think they know more then me about body work and paint ... If your not sure, go somewhere else, I could care less ... I won't except a job if I know the person is just gonna be a headache. So for the rest of you, if u want a professional paint job or need help with anything, for less than half the price of any shop than feel free to message me. I have tons of pictures u can see, but pictures don't do justice to what it would look like in person so u could even come by and see what I'm working on now. |

| I revised my post, but what I meany by poor is that everyone wants a 5000 dollar paint job for free it seems. My prices are less than half a shop would charge but the same quality, considering I have been doing it for 8 years and work at one of the most well known body shops in town. I have painted anything from rusted out 86 civics to one of the edmonton grand prix pace cars... |

Hey guys, I just finished getting some pieces painted by Pepper. He's a really good guy to deal with, has good prices and does really good work. And very fast, too. Geez, I handed him an unfinished fender and an SUV bumper and he had them done in 24 hours!! I figured it was going to be a week or two before I saw them again.
So, Pepper, two thumbs up! I'll be calling you this winter for the paintjob on the racecar.

Materials on a complete for me are well over 1000.00 and thats to do it right.!!
No offence to this guy but I am very very curious how you make it by on a 1000.00 paintjob.

| yeah i was the one with the prelude he fucked over, i rode with no bumper for months and him telling me it was fixed and at a friends house, when i finally recieved the bumper back from him nothing had been done to it and i was out 600 dollars because he told me he was getting a body kit i requested but they had sent the wrong one and he was waiting to recieve it still, this guy will just scam u for your money buyer beware, pay the extra money and get it done properly, u dont want to go through the headaches of this trust me, and still to this day i have not seen m money, when i threatened to go to the police he said go ahead and take me to small claims court, clearly a man of his word. |

$1000 paintjob i agree would be impossible to do the work properly and make any money on it.... i am a journeyman bodyman and i'm in the middle of restoring my buddys ae86 corolla and the materials alkone are well over 1500

Good materials are expensive. But you can get cheap stuff like that pre-mixed Dupont which is only $100/gallon. It will look shiny for about 1-2 years and then dull out.
Figure about $50-100 for shop materials (paper, filler, tape etc) and you're looking at a decent profit for a decent paintjob.
Hopefully no one was stupid enough to believe a 1K paintjob is going to be 'good'. |

my tremclad hood looked pretty good for costing me under $50. just the polisher that cost alot cause i was too lazy to sand it by hand.
so how would a place like maaco profit from a $500 spray job then? or even then $1000 'top of the line' paint jobs? even using the cheapest paint, and the cheapest materials possible, they still have to pay workers and overhead. |
