HID's??? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Spoolin MX6
Hey, I know they are banning the aftermarket HID Kits in the states, but are they illegal in Canda??? If my car came equipped with a 9004 bulb, and I bought the kit, and used the correct bulbs (DR2s I believe) would this get me a ticket, or no

Honestly, I hope it does. If there's one thing more annoying than oem HIDs it's aftermarket ones. I hope they ban them all.

well I can understand if they ban the d2r bulbs (the ones for projection housings) but the shielded d2s bulbs, which are designed for reflective housings are not that bad, and if installed correctly shouldn't blind anyone.

But the problem is seems like all HIDs on the street is blinding no matter we are head to head or when they are behind me, just insandly bright..

Aftermarket HIDS have always been illegal, the US has now decided to fine retailers for selling these kits becasue ticketing users was not working. Canadian retailers are still allowed to sell them but they are not for street use.

Thanx, thats what I wanted to know

hid's are the way of the future... :)

They're the best lights on the road, and when you've driven with real OEM hid's it's hard to go back to a car w/out them.

As a driver, I've gotten used to seeing hids on oncoming cars and don't find them a distraction to me.

I still think raised up trucks and suv's are more of a bitch with their lights shinning right in your eyes through the mirriors and windshield....

That's just an opionion....

Yeah it's the f-in idiots in their stupid SUV's that piss me off the most. Shining in my mirrors no matter where they are in relation to my car. Just another reason to hate SUV's.

If you want to make sure the bulbs are legal, just look for the D.O.T. approved. When I used to have a Ford S.D., I had installed some D.O.T. approved bulbs (PIA), they were a bit brighter, but nothing compared to the PIA driving lights. Before there are more comments about the F-in trucks, and so on....Most of my work with the truck was in northern Alberta where streetlights aren't found at every corner.

And as a driver of a 1/2 ton....It's up to every registered owner of a vehicle to ensure their lights are adjusted properly. I normally carry 200 to 300 lbs of tools in the box....So if that's the case. adjust the headlights. I've also noted allot of cars on the road thinking if the factory low beam bulb is say..50 wattish, that 80 watts must be better. If you're driving around the city, all you're doing is pissing off the other drivers on the road.
