I have a question, I just got back from holidays in BC and I got a speeding ticket on the way home. I asked the officer if he would give me a registered owners ticket and he said the ticket he was giving me has no demerits it was just a fine. The ticket shows no speed or anything just a fine for breaking the highway traffice act. He said that manitoba was the same way.
So my question is did he give me just a fine because i am out of province?? And if it is just a fine will this show on my driving record??
Does anyone know??? |

Flex;
I bypassed this post hoping someone else may have an answer. I am pretty much ignorant when it comes to other provinces (except Saskatchewan as that was where I was first posted). Try the enclosed link to ICBC - maybe they can shed some light on your question. One question I have for you ... could this have possibly been a municipal bylaw ticket??

Thank you for the website but still didnt really answer my question. As for it being a bylaw ticket, it was an RCMP that pulled me over so I dont think it was.
The answers I am getting from some other people are that it is like a registered owners ticket, I pay my fine and it doesnt count against my record.
All these years with no tickets, and when I was younger how much I drove like and ass and never got one and this time i honestly didnt see the change of speed sign........it went from a 90 to a 60 back to a 90 and when I got puled over I wasabout 20 ft from the 90 zone again. I was doing the speed limit for the 90 zone.......alot a good that did me....... :blink: |

I hope they don't count. I got a ticket on the way to Van. In the box where it says "ACT/REGS" the constable checked "ACT" whatever the hell that means.
No speeds stated just the amount of the fine and Section 146(3) in the offense section. According to link albertarc it says 3 demerits and the offence as "Speed against highway sign" but dones that apply to ot of province drivers?
I got it near Clearwater on highway 5 somewhere in the boondocks. |

| I found out, the officer was correct, it is just a fine no demerits and it doesnt go against your driving record. It is basically because of out of province. |

technically i don't think you actually have to pay tickets from another province, they can't really do anything unless they catch you again in the province and they expire after 2 yrs or something.
technically I owe hawaii, BC, and california a collective $467 |
