Fucking fuck!
I went out for dinner with my boss and contractor... The Sawmill on the southeast side... Came out of the restaurant... And it's snowing.
It's not HEAVY snow... But it's still snow.
And I'm pissed.
Looks like the bike will be parked for the winter.
I *MIGHT* get a chance to ride on Thanksgiving Monday?

| Alright snow, finally. If you guys don't like snow, why don't you move away? Seriously, I knew I'd be here for awhile so I trained myself to love snow. And I don't even drive, I stand my frozen ass on the street waiting for buses that never come. And I still eat up the slop! Lake Louise Nov.8 bitches. |

Trust me I would. I had a Phenoix move all planned out, found my wife a job and everything. The wifey didn't want to leave her parents and sisters up here:( .

I'm praying its above 10 on monday (forecast calls for 13) so I too can get the last ride in. |

I usually ride until there is more than 1/3 of the road covered in some sort of ice. Light snow doesn't affect me unless it melts and refreezes into ice patches. I drove once to the University on November 28th two years ago, from St. Albert. It was pretty damn cold, about -13C but the road was relatively clear of snow. It did have salt residue, which adds to the grip of the bike. The only scary part was Groat road because there was some ice near the concrete dividers.
Ride until you find the bike is starting to slip around, then it's time to park it. Make sure you drain the oil and the fuel, too. Fuel will go bad over the winter and corrosive chemicals in used oil will cause extra wear to the engine over 6 months...
If you're not going to drain the oil and gas, you should at least start your bike once a week to keep the fluids mixed and injectors/carbs clear. |

ya this!
the shortest lifespan pump gas falls out of its ideal perfect specs after 3 months or so, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work or is going to blow ur engine up after 6 months lololol. there is a difference between falling out of ideal spec, and going 'bad'. |

| But isn't gas a solvent, thus wearing down fuel lines and... well I guess that's probably it. |

I don't care. Work at 7eleven if I have to. See my wife would be making over $40 per hour to start; we would have no mortgage payments and life down in the US seems to be half price. Besides I can golf year round;) .

It depends on the stability additives and the fuel cell material, the fuel lines, o-rings and seals. 6 months can make fuel quite unusable. Fuel additives can break down and cause gelling, especially for cheaper quality fuels. The same additives can dissolve plastic and rubber seals, corrode fuel lines if contaminated with other things like water, etc. Motorbikes are especially sensitive to bad fuel because of their high compression ratios, smaller fuel pumps, smaller injectors, and smaller diameter fuel lines.
Do what you want with your car and motorbikes... I'm just giving some advice that worked for me.
And always put your battery in the house (unless your garage is heated) in the winter. Don't let it freeze or you'll likely need to buy a new battery or have the pleasure of cleaning acid leaks all the time. |

I have a feeling this winter is going to be very cold..
Funny story, we got this new manager from Ottawa, we told him how cold it gets it Fort McMurray and how it snowed in April. He doesn't believe us at all. Should be fun watching him freeze away. =) |

Every year I convince myself that it won't snow and summer will last forever.
I'm wrong all the time.
I'm starting to think it's time to blow this town. |

I'm with you brother. But unfortunetlymy wife doesn't move. Look at the positive side. You now have 7 months to save up for mods on your car. You will need that much time because our dollar is tanking.

Honestly, I have thought long and hard about up and leaving...
I have a place to live that is warm all year round, and especially boiling in the summer.
Great tourist country, TONS of things to do.
My parents have a house their, so I can live for free, and I have family their.
The only thing holding me back is, I need to find a job their. Even though I speak the countries language; they use French in almost every work environment...
Maybe I can get a job, in the country next door and commute. :D
Ahhh to dream... |
