I just moved to edmonton a month ago. I used to likve in Yellowknife, and i have a 1989 shelby daytona ( http://www.cardomain.com/id/5litereater ). I sent the original motor out to RELIABLE ENGINE SERVICES back in January, and they rebuilt it and i put it back in the daytona. It had no compression on the #4 cylinder after 1000km. I pulled it out, and sent it back. They paid for shipping, and fixed it. I was happy. I put it back in and i am now sitting at 4000 km, and it is putting oil out the PCV and doing the exact same thing it did the first time. I called them today to see what they would do about it and they said to bring it down so they could have a look at it. Has anyone else ever had any positive or negative relations with this company? Thanks. I was not even doign anythign wrong to this motor either. Just cruising last night.

did you break the engine in properly? What methods did you use? I have no input about R.E.S.

Yeah, what they told me to do, and i followed their instructions exactly, was to just drive it easily in the city. They pre-broke it in for me with an electric motor of some sort. I was jsut told to drive and vary the speed of the motor. No cruising on the highway at 100 for hours on end. That is exaclty waht i did. i used regular oil, not synthetic, and i changed it after 1000 km. I wasnt hard on it at all for the first 2500 km, and even turned the boost down to 7 psi. The hardest i ever was on it, was when i took it to bud park and made 4 passes, with a best of 15.3 at 92, so i know it was runnign good then, as that is a reasonable time. Just the other night it started doing its OIL out the PCV thing again. What methods do you use?

I thought oil out the PCV was pretty normal for turbocharged engines (depending how much oil, I guess)? That's why you install an oil catch can usually.
My engine started doing the same thing about 1 month ago. I'm installing an oil catch can soon.

it depends on the amount of oil, you should get some as blowby out of the breather but it should be minimal unless you run your car real hard. The only reason i asked about the break in period is because when my rings failed in my fourth cyl. I began to get alot of oil out of the valve cover. I thought perhaps your rings never seated properly

Believe me, when a piston ring fails, you know it. You can't mistake that for too much crankcase pressure. :)
