does anybody know how to prep before painting a vehicle? as in, what grit sandpaper to use, how to sand it, any tips etc, what kinds of primer work best... HELP GUYS!

Just panit it on.

go with 320grit and take the original paint down until it is no longer shinny, if you go too deep in areas and see factory primer feather the edges out as far as you can from layer to layer, if too close it'll look like a dent. If you wanna do it quikly just hit all your edges by hand then use a rotary sander(orbital) for the big areas. Move in all directions, criss-cross whaterever just dont be using the same stroke all the time

you want to grind out the rust and idealy replace the panels with fresh metal . but fiber glass will work if you want to do a cheaper job.
