Towing a Trailer - Click HERE for Original Thread

Tcon
Good Day Guys,

I was towing a trailer at night and I did not have the electronics plugged in because my wiring harness was not working correctly. I got a $57 equipment violation but the boat trailer has reflectors on the lights. Should I challenge this ticket?

Division 13
(e) have a vehicle, other than a cycle, on the highway unless the
vehicle is equipped with 2 reflectors that are located at the rear of the
vehicle and that are

(i) of a type required by the Equipment Regulation, and

(ii) affixed as required by the Equipment Regulation so
as to reflect the lights of any motor vehicle approaching from the rear;

Thanks,
Tcon

when towing a trailer you must have the lights working...ie signals, running and brake lights!!!

once my dad was on his way home from working in the field and had an RCMP pull him over. their trailer had the running lights burnt out so the RCMP made them turn their quads around and, put red tape over the quad head lights and then run the quads so that the lights were on.....they did this for teh rest of the way home.....

you could challenge it but IMHO i believe that it would not be worth it

I think you would lose:

"Division 2
Rear Lamps

Tail lamps
13(1) A self-propelled implement of husbandry, a trailer, the last vehicle
of a train of vehicles and a motor vehicle, other than a motor cycle or
moped, must have at least 2 tail lamps mounted at the rear.

(2) A motor cycle, a moped, a power bicycle and a trailer that is less
than 760 millimetres wide, including its load, must have at least one tail
lamp mounted at the rear.

(3) The tail lamps must be as widely spaced laterally as practicable.

(4) A tail lamp must be capable of emitting a red light that is visible
from at least 150 metres to the rear.

(5) The centre of a tail lamp must not be less than 380 millimetres or
more than 2 metres above ground level when the vehicle is not loaded.

(6) A tail lamp must turn on and stay lit when the head lamps or auxiliary
driving lamps are lit.

The code also has sections for brake and signal lamps, all of which you violated. Don't waste the courts time and MY tax money challenging a ticket you deserve.

Are you serious???? That sounds odd. The cop made them have running ATV's on the trailer??
