Stealths are a bit on the heavy side. They have a curb weight of 3100-3800 lb, where as a 2nd Gen Talon/Eclipse weighs in at 2750-3200 lb.
They look showtime, but to make them as fast as a Talon/Eclipse takes a bit more. |

| If you're really resourceful, you could land a 91+ MR2 for $15,000. Other than that, I'm thinking 95+ Talon TSi or Honda Prelude SR-V!! |

| I read on one of Troy's other posts that he cannot buy a modded car. |

I would get a 2nd Gen Integra GSR, if I could find one.
Spend a couple of dollars repainting and wheels and you have a rare, clean, fun car.

| there's a 95 GS-R in the autotrader, there asking 13,900.. |
|
|
| ThinkAboutIt |
| Theres a 96 GSR for 12,900 as well. |

Those would be good cars for sure, but I would go 2GEN (92/93 for GSR), All second Gen GSRs were made in 92 though. The older integra GSRs are faster and cheaper. And look better ;)

| If you want a FAST car for under $15K the mitsuman's car is your only option. Otherwise youre not getting your moneys worth. Thats if you want a fast car that is. If you just want looks then I guess you can consider other options. |

| Find a cheap s13 nissan 240sx with a blown motor - $1,000, buy a redtop SR20DET -$2,500. Put the two together, purchase the nessisay upgrades: intercooler, BOV, clutch, exhaust. Now you have a fast and responsive rear wheel drive sports car and a shitload of money left over to make it eaven faster! |

It might be that simple if cars were made out of lego blocks but they arent. Things are never easy when you start modding a car. Its much more cost effective to buy one thats allready working right than to build one yourself and hit all the bumps on the way.
ie. Buy allready the fastest Import car i(Marcins DSM) in Edmonton for $14,000 and use the extra grand on chicks. Instead of spending all the money in trying to build one and find out that you cant make it as fast as you thought it would be. |

Did you get these numbers from Sport Compact Car? They are far from realistic. Tack on at least another G for the car, $2g's more for the install of the engine, $2g's for upgrades and adapting parts so that you don't blow it up during your first week or driving it. In the end you may be able to build a basic SR20 powered 240 for just under $15k with some basic mods thrown in(fuel pump, rad, FMIC, boost controller, BOV). I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, but your numbers aren't realistic at all. It's because of these costs and having the car pieced together that I plan on buying an actual Silvia in the future.

| ok no offence guys but why buy a car that you end up sellin 1/2 the shit in it then moddin the hell out of it.. that's just hackin it.. why not buy a car that ALREADY has potential? remember all the power is useless if you can't stop and your suspension is like an 90 yr. old couch |

i know we're not supposed to say anything about FS ads but even MINT that thing is over-priced.. for 5 grand more you can import a very nice mk iv from the states, they should be 6-9 grand
that GSR would be one hell of a deal but seems kinda cheap for a '96?
are you wanting a dragster? a auto-xing car? looks over speed? if you want a dragster... talon is the cheaper more viable option, for auto-xing depends on your preference but those ae86's seem to be popular.. for looks over speed, go euro.. anyday :P |

| Look into the possibility of a 2nd gen Ford Probe GT. 2.5L Mazda V6. They are cheap as they don't hold thier resale value because of the Ford nameplate. You can score a 94+ for well under 10 G's then turbo charge that bad boy!! 2.5L turbo V6? Let the ass kicking begin!! |
