Supercharged JDM AE92 Corolla - Click HERE for Original Thread

ChromeDragon
Well I was driving to school and a car comes flying up behind me on 156st(which was surprising cuz I was going a little quick being late for school). As I come to the light at the Yellowhead I look over as the car pulls up beside me. The front fenders come into view and I'm thinking "cool a 92". Then I see the badge on the side of the door, "Supercharged". I'm now thinking that something isn't right, I glance up as the driver comes into view and he seems to be sitting much too close to me....well what do ya know it's RHD. So has anyone seen this car around town at all, or have any idea who it is? It looks pretty much stock from the outside, I tried to talk to the driver but the light turned green at 118ave before I could get my window down when he pulled up beside me again.

Anyhow, just thought it was kinda cool, having only seen a handful of JDM cars in Edmonton so far I figured it was noteworthy.....plus I want his engine! hehehe

definitly very neat

but sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to import a JDM car...

I think so. In the case of the Silvia I plan to pick up I can buy the car from Japan in as good of, if not better, condition than any 240sx here for the same price. Factor in that it will already have the engine I want, LSD and RHD, well frankly it's a hell of alot better deal. Plus you're importing something that you couldn't get here. This guys car was basically the same as the Corolla's here, but with the Supercharged 170hp(stock) 4AGZE. Very cool car, and very capable of going extremely fast!

werd, the novelty of the jdm'ness would wear off after some time i suspect

why not just pick up a USDM AE92 and slap in a 4agze???

I'd think it would be cheaper and less hassle (customs paper work?) to do the swap than importing an import

I agree with you on the Silvia, of course with cars & engines that you just simply cannot purchase here it would be worth it *coughskylinecough*...but to me, importing a RHD 4AGZE Corolla is like importing a RHD Integra Type-R
you can get the exact same thing, LEFT hand drive and do a simple engine swap...bam, there's your LHD JDM TypeR

cuz along with the engine u need the ecu, map setup, and wire harness. all that work and it is still missing little jdm bits here and there. in the end, it costs less to import one.

this car u guys are talking about is a corolla gtz, low mileage, no rust, and has 165 hp not 170....

the car is for sale for 6500USD...way too much imo.
