Hey,

I'm looking at doing my exaust this week, now i know the muffler i want and all that kind of stuff, but I'm curious what have you done. I was thikning of doing Cat back.

I've talke dto some peopel that say do the header first, so I'm just lookin to see what's been done.

PS - I'm gettin it done to a 94 Prelude SRV

GReddy Evo, pricey but worth it.

If you're just buying an after market muffler, you HAVE to change your piping from the cat back - slap a high flow cat on there once you're at it.

Think of your exhast as a hose. If you add a larger outlet ( muffler ) and don't change the diameter of the hose ( piping ) your flow will be severely restricted.

Don't go larger than 2 1/4" for (our cars) for your piping ( unless you decide to turbo down the road ) or you will lose vital back pressure.

I changed my exhaust b4 my header ---- but that's only a few days away for me now.

Good luck!!

hey copper... i'm guessing that you're going to have a muffler shop bend you some pipes?? they will be using a crush bender so take that into consideration. you may have to run a slightly larger pipe since the crush bends will have a smaller diameter. and like lude_boy said you might as well throw on a high flow cat while you're at it. let us know how it turns out. what kind of muffler are you going to run?

superpirate25
I did exhaust before header due to the fact that it will be easier to do the header with the engine swap. Also i got an excellent deal on a Greddy Evo that was modified to fit my car, as they only make them for the civic coupe.

anyone try a port off the exhaust... i heard about it from a buddy, just a small pipe with a cap on it that you can remove when you race. i'm not saying its the way to go, but it sounds like a cheap way to get the gains if your racing at the track.

I'd go with this route if you're ONLY doing this exhaust mod for SCC

hell, why not just run an open header for a couple runs (with earplugs :D) and put the exhaust back on for the trip home???

I have a subtle 4" exhaust.

I have Full Racing Beat Turbo Back exhaust. it is: 3.15" down pipe--->Presilencer--->Y-Pipe which is 2.375" ---> Dual Stainless Steel Mufflers. Works great and sounds great. No super rice bomb here. B)

:D

yes, my tip is 4", but only to match the piping ;)

BLK_LBL
andrew i think you should do a crush bent 2" exaust, add a cherry bomb muffler, take out the cat, and install a 'bluebottle' and then finish it all off with a red LED light-up muffler tip!

ahh i can only dream

Well I was thinking of going 2 1/2 CAT back for now, I'll do the high flow CAT when I get a new header next season.

Is 2.5 gonna be to big, what kinda loss am i lookin at.

And I would liek to Turbo down the road, but not before allot of work is done under the hood. SO prob not fo rliek another 2 years.....well the season after next :fingersx:

Suggestions?

SHIFT_AT_9000_RPMS
I had 2 1/2" piping on my 2.5L V6 Probe GT. That diameter piping on our 2.2L might be pushing it though. I would stay 2 1/4" just to be safe.

Other opinions?

Copper
Totally, other opinions?

Cuz I've heard 2.5 will be ok, but I would liek to make sure.

Thanx
