Road Course at bud park? - Click HERE for Original Thread

JustinL
Is there any news on a road course being built at Bud Park? I'm hoping that I'll be able to get the 951 out on the track for some laps next year.

Is there any way of getting track time for road cars at stratotech?

Road courses cost $1Mil+ per mile to pave, and then there's all the other setup costs (pitlane, concrete walls, curbing, marshal bunkers, tire barriers, etc.) And the revenues generated from racers and the few spectators never recovers all those costs. So, I wouldn't expect to see a track at Bud Park for a long while yet. It's just not cost effective for the owners........

Well we keep being told that the track will be operating next spring, but every time I go out there it looks like construction hasn't progressed at all. Sadly I think they've given up on it.

Maybe Matt can enlighten us as to the status of the road course?

Last time I was at the track I heard one of the tech guys saying that they just need like two more investors and then they might start construction. The guy also said that some planning commision sent a rough plan of the track out east to see if it could get the o.k for safety and stuff...

hmmmm...so buy the time we all sell our cars to use the money as a downpayment on houses..........

Yup so all the Edmonton tuners five years from now might have an alternative to 1/4 mile racing :D It'll be good for the car scene as a whole, who knows mabey one day there could be the Edmonton F1 race :P well i can dream cant i lol,

In looking at building a road course in 3 different locations, Edmonton has needed "just 2 more investors" for the last 14 years that I've been involved in motorsports.

Forgive my cynicism, but I've been told "next spring" far too many times to believe it anymore.......

darkman
I guess I can only believe it when i see it. Until then, Race City for now...
