Red Light Camera's and timers - Click HERE for Original Thread

I almost did a brake stand, trying to stop in time at an intersection with a red light camera. I was driving the posted 50 km, but there was no warning or way to gage how fast it would turn from green to yellow-red! I've noticed that some intersections have timer indicators on the side. Those are much better designed and safer, never have any problems there. Couldn't the city install more for the safety of the public?

It's an awesome safety feature to see those timers - I know when I'm in my Z I'm always slowing down for the blinking hand.

But it costs $$$$$ to install those, especially all over the city. I'm sure they'll put them in anytime they need to put a new one in, but I doubt they'll be able to do a "makeover" of the whole city.

How about just at the redlight camera intersections? I swear it seems like some are designed to goof ppl up and generate revenue.

Well if you're doing the posted speed limit you should have absolutely no problem stopping once the light turns yellow. If you notice on higher speed roads there is a longer delay between yellow to red, this is to accomodate the higher speed people braking.

not always. Even at 50km you could run into trouble. Seems some yellows are awfully quick. And I treat yellow's like reds. Slow down, do NOT go.

I agree, those countdown timers are are FAR more safer than those stupid red light cameras.

It lets you know if you can make it or not.

But hey, that doesn make the city any money, sooooo....
