I had a friend who got a ticket one afternoon on whitemud while rushing home to take his pregnant wife to the hospital. He didnt tell her of course ( she was a9 month prego, no need to mess with her emotions). After a false start to labour, they went home.

The next morning at 7:00 am, the officer came back to his house and gave him a corrected ticket. The guy said he had either 24 or 48 hours to correct it.

that's not grounds at all, they also have a piece of paper you never see with the particulars, your driver's license #, your insurance, your plate, your car.. they have you..... now IF they wrote the color of the car/plate down wrong and it was JUST a parking ticket you could quash it, but you don't have any grounds to quash it R, sorry :(

damn are u serious? That totally sucks! Maybe I could ask anyways ...it coudnt hurt right? Or, could it? :( I really cant afford a ticket right now :( Geez, going to school full time really sets u back in the $ dept. Even when i was paying off my car, i didnt feel this broke! Ugh!

Go talk to them anyhow.... maybe the cop wrote that "hidden" information down wrong.

midnite
go to the law court and ask the JP for full disclosure on your ticket.
they will get you the police officers copy with all his notes.

then you can ask to speak to the crown prosecutor and get it lowered or dropped.

Under the Provincial Offences Act (right name?) there's a 6 months leeway to lay a charge after an offence. For something as minor as a postal code, I highly doubt a judge would quash a ticket on that grounds. Even a minor spelling error in the name might even be overlooked. I don't know who said 24 or 48 hours, cuz that's not true.

yea, the date HAS to be correct... no 2 ways about it.. something like a postal code tho will not get it quashed..

I had the wrong city written on mine.. went to the JP, and he said he'd reduce it..

Just go there and say your ticket has "wrong information" on it, and he'll tell you he cant quash it, but he will reduce it for ya.

Its worth a try :)

How about this situation: I was pulled over last night for speeding (which I admit I was, but they had me clocked about 5kms faster than I was going, but thats irrellevant).

Anyways, the ticket that was given to me is pretty illegible. I mean if you cross your eyes and stuff I guess my name and address are right, but even a lenient grade school teacher would have problems calling it 'correct'. In partictular my name is pretty mangled, with the N in my name looking like an I, and an A looking like a Q.

Is this grounds for dismissal? Normally I wouldn't bother to fight it since they had me dead to rights, but some idiot hit and ran my car last week in a parking lot, so I'd prefer if my insurance didn't take the double hit.

I'm not 100% sure about that.

But I got a ticket in Spruce Grove and the popo had my name totally rearranged, first last, middle first, you get the pic.

I asked her if that's grounds for dismissal, she said nope, as long as the Drivers License number is right, tickets legit.

f@ck. :D

it wouldn't hurt to ask a JP......but IMO best case it may get slightly reduced...
