from my vafc install and dyno tuning at PE Tuning Group on Saturday September 27th.
1. With plugging the vafc into the ecu, it changed the idle. We had to manually increase the idle to around 740.
2. The obd2 version 1 wiring harness had a small problem with the rpm wire (green) plugged into the incorrect pin. With some good splicing work from James, he got it working properly.
3. VTEC ingagement point was changed to 4500 rpm.
4. Since I have my stock dual tipped muffler, the 02 sensor had to be held in the muffler and I feel the numbers were a little off.
5. Baseline:
133.8whp @ 7073rpm, 97mph
100.2ft/lb @ 5640rpm
6. Final Fuel Tuning:
145.9whp @ 7116rpm, 97mph
112.7ft/lb @ 5560rpm
However, since there was no temperature sensor used (broken) and the factor used to calculate whp was 1.050 instead of the 1.099, the peak horsepower number of 145.9whp is a little low. With the correct factors, it should be close to 153whp.
Since I was anticipating 150whp, I'm happy with the actual numbers that I did get. |

Damn you picked up 12 hp?? and 12 lb-ft!! so what other mods do you have other than the vafc?? stock exhaust and intake?? nice work man! |

My prelude is stock, other than the following performance mod's:
jdm type-s intake w/ K&N drop-in air filter
AEM pulleys |

| Darcy, I have problem setting my vtec point too low, while in low throttle past the preset vtec point, and because there is no enough oil pressure, vtec is not engage, lets meet and see yours? |

How low is too low? There is no point in setting your vtec too low, it won't help performance. 4500rpm is as low as I would go.

Setting the vtec engagement point was the first step, prior to doing any air/fuel tuning.
I think stock, it's set at around 5800rpm. We set mine at 4500rpm, which was as low as I wanted to go since it's a daily driver.
James was considering setting it lower, to like 4000rpm but I wasn't comfortable with that.
Wilson, why don't you take your car over to PE so James could take a look at it. It could be something else that's giving you grief like your Lvt & Hvt settings. |

| I'm pretty sure that they do. Didn't 98Luder go with hondata? |

Yes, 98Luder is running the hondata engine management system and is doing the tuning himself.
If you do plan on going hondata or AEM EMS, I would recommend PE Tuning or even Speedtech Racing Development (Calgary). |

Looks good, do you know why the lb-ft is low? i thought it would be around 110-115 with the baseline test. |

Stock VTEc engages at 5400rpm. 5000rpm on Jspec ludes. I believe 4000rpm would be too low for the high cam, it wouldn't help.

excatly, unless you can compensate for the extra power(more fuel etc) i wouldnt rasie it more than a 1000 from stock. i made 7.8 whp with dyno tuning on my afc. |

Where did you end up putting the vafc in your car? I know you were asking for suggestions on TPC.
I'm going to put my vafc where the center vents use to be. I got my cetner vent custom molded with CF to fit a vafc. When I get it done and buy a digicam I'll try to post a pic.

I wanted to get a custom CF panel made for my glove compartment but due to time/money constraints, I just installed it in front of the shifter.
Ya, I've seen the vafc in the air vent mod before and I really like it as well. You should see ManHunters custom vafc install, now that's the bomb! |

12whp gain :)
andn 12ft/lb at the wheel gain :)
not too bad for such a small tool.
Yes, we do Hondata, you can come by and look one of these days when i'm messing around with it. I sometimes retune my fuel map if i'm testing an intake...just for the fun of it :)
It's nice having a dyno in the next room  |
