I'm looking to get a PT job - Edmonton area to help save up for some things. The hardest part it seems though is finding a job that'll let me start at 5 (Had to turn down a call center because I couldn't start at 4). It's hard - most people want to know my "experience" and get scared when they find out I have a career-type job already.
Now, I'm hoping to get one that has some nice benefits - Like some nice discounts and that will let me work evenings/weekends (I don't mind shitty shifts).
If you can hook me up with a job, great.
If not, can you tell me about PT jobs that you know their wages/benefits.
Thanks |

I don't have to do any selling do it?
If not - what's the name of the place? Where to apply? Is it a good job?
And should I use your name so you get a referral bonus (I know places like GE do this in their call centres)? |

Maybe it's just my luck, or maybe I'm being too honest.
But once they find out I work 8am - 4:45pm, and once they realize my job occupation it becomes really hard to convince them to give me a chance. Once the guy at Best Buy found out what I did for a living (he thought I worked some helpdesk - so I explained to him what I did), I could tell by the reaction I was in the "No" pile. I always thought a LOT of people did the two job thing, maybe I was wrong...
I mean, my last resort is Safeway/IGA but I really don't want that again. I did Superstore last year, and I got suckered into working 6am - 2pm Sat/Sun along with 4 other nights (5:30 - 11:00) / week. So I was basically working from 8am - 11pm 4 nights/week. Pretty rough. I mean, I bring it on myself because I work hard when I work, and if my boss says "I need you" I'm always the first one there. Hell, I once took a day off my regular job because my boss said "We're only have 2 people this morning".
That's the person I am. But no one I've talked to in an interview can understand that - they just see I am committed to one job, and they don't want to play second-fiddle. It's frustrating. Really frustrating. |

How much do call centre jobs pay anyhow?
Trevor how much were you hoping to make /hr at a PT job?
P.S. doesn't telephone work usually suck? I had a telemarketing job as a kid and remember it was a drag. :crying: |

The GE one pays 13/hour.
I am hoping for 9-10/hour. I don't think that's unreasonable. I mean, I know what the grocery stores pay, so I have to aim higher than that.
Telephone stuff isn't bad as long as you're not selling shit. That's when it's bad. I was hoping for a call centre along the lings of a Helpdesk (IT) or customer service... |

I work at NAIT in the IT Department - Peoplesoft shit and stuff, so I get paid pretty damn well (A lot more than private industry) and get to retire in 32 more years. I honestly think it intimidates some people.....But once the Bestbuy guy found that out, you could tell he didn't want me there.
I'd love to do the whole bar thing - but I really am not social enough to get the high tips doing that. I have a better chance of being a bouncer or something than a bartender (I'm not quite big enough for a bouncer yet, but I'll get there eventually). |

Ok here is the deal
NO SELLING IN MY JOB
starting: 8.50/hour
after 3 months: 8.80
after i year: 9.30
they will hire you with what you do right now. i got hired the same day i applied.
you do surveys for banks, companies, and the government.
you must get some surveys a night but of course you will have a bad evening and not get any at all. At the end of the month they measure how many surveys you got (productivity) if its below .800 a month somethin like that you get 3 warnings and then fired but you have to suck balls to be like that.
if you do a survey for a specific client you get paid for each survey X amount and the survey is 2 mins you get put on that survey if ur good at ur job and after ur first month. on this survey you can make 7.25/h if you get 0 done in a night which is very very unlikely. or you can end up makin 14/h which i usually do. |
|
|
| REDX2NV |
| hah can u make up your own survey? like u call somone and they tell you to f-off, can u just fill in the blanks? |
|
|

| ha now that gets u fired. |
