All I can say is wow. In one way an absolutely terrible movie due to it's crazy camera work and extremely weak boring points, but in another way incredibly powerful with some of the very graphic scenes. I never really thought I would watch a movie with 15 minute intensely graphic rape scene but I guess I have now. And the way they f@cked that guy up at the begining (end) was pretty visual as well. I don't know if I really suggest this movie for anybody who hasn't seen it unless you have a strong stomach. Oh and it's in French so that's kinda another reason not to watch it.

I've never even heard of this movie. Is it playing in theatres, or what?

Except for the french and rape bits, it sounds a lot like "Pulp Fiction". What a POS that movie was! Only movie I've ever walked out on in the middle.

It's not in theatres, I rented it last night. Yeah it is kinda like pulp fiction (which by the way is an AWESOME movie) in a way because the story goes backwards, but it's still in order. More like Memento. But except for the few intense scenes it is BORING! The first 5 minutes are just the camera swinging around wildly in the dark and you get glimpses of gays being gay and things like that. Oh yeah, another reason not to see it, gay buttsecks. Although you do get to see Monica Bellucci naked on a number of occasions, albeit one of those occasions is while she is being raped and beaten. As you can see, I'm quite torn on my opinion of this movie.

I've seen the uncut euro version of this movie....to this moment I cant decide if I liked it or not. It was disturbing in my opinion. But being a great fun of Monica Bellucci  I had to see it.

Its definitely a different movie, made from another perspective - I would recommend it, but not as a "date" movie. One will either love it or hate it....or be somewhere in between wondering WTF??

ManHunter
Holy crap, see irreversible as a date movie?!? I kneel in front of any kind that takes his date to see this movie and still ends up with the girl. :)

I'm a bit conflicted too about it. The end of the story, which is really the first 30 minutes of the movie, seem to have been designed to make the viewers very uncomfortable. The camera is like Blair Witch Project on crack, the soundtrack is an extremely aggressive droning sound, everything is shot under a red light, the characters goes to places nobody in their right mind would want to see. Extremely violent fight scene. The rape scene is disturbing because that's pretty much exactly how I imagined a rape would be, none of the hollywood glorified sex and violence.

On the other hand, the movie is quite spectacular to see for anyone interested in how movies are made. So many very very subtle special effects, and the fact that the movie is made of about 15 uninterrupted shot... so hard film 5-10 minutes shots without anyone making an error. I hope they didn't have to do more than 1 take on the rape scene, I don't see how Monica Bellucci could have done it twice.

Are you retarded? You realise you're talking about Pulp Fiction right?

No, last time I checked, I was not classified as retarded. My IQ is significantly above average, actually.

I just don't see the point of a movie where violence begetting violence is the main theme of every single scene. We were not the first people to walk out of the theatre, either. There was about 8 other people who left before us.
