Moderators - Click HERE for Original Thread

SHIFT_AT_9000_RPMS
I'm bored, time to rattle some bones.

Shouldn't the moderators to an internet forum be alillte more active than alot of the mods here?

Reflux, BlueturboEGG, albertarc are regular participators here, Masterv, Scintaller and cflude to a lesser extent. But Clem ( please don't kick my ass big guy ), Drunkengoddess, and JuJu? What the f@ck is a JuJu?? They post like once in a blue moon.

What are the critierias for a mod?

I think the mods should be updated with ppl like Chromedragon, Redbaron, Slowass, Pro Drag and a few others who are very active on this site and I'm sure alot more interested about what goes on here than alot of the current mods.

I'm sure alot of them have been here from day one, but I also think a mod should be here at least once every couple days " moderating".

I have nothing against these ppl personally, just think it's time for some changes.....

*rant off *

TheWask
The only mod I see thats active is Reflux. You are right though we need a change up here. The people you listed are good choices, though I feel redbaron will become crazy with his new found powers.

stealth
I vote for my self. :fingersx:

redbaron303
Bah.... Crazy... I've been that way for a while :)

If I was a moderator... I'd ban Al for his moma jokes, that's it... :D j/k

I think the moderators have done a very good job at controlling this site and making it worth coming too. I do feel they should be more active sometimes too, but none the less the jobs being done....

Lude_boy93, I don't know who would moderate us, since we're the active posters :) haha

But hey, if the board felt we were the right ppl for the job, then I'm sure we could all step up to it and do it responsibly.... I prefer to have an active board versus a dead board... .

REFLUX
*waits for Magnum's "REFLUX = :gay:, we need better mods" post*
:crying: :tear: I'm sorry Magnum....please forgive me

to stay on topic: I agree that it's a good idea for mods to be active on a site but I don't believe it is crucial.

I'm sure BlueTurboEgg, masterv, scin, cflude, etc come on the site to check up on things & to make sure everything's going smoothly.

They do their job, it's someone like me who does the grunt work...I.E. dealing with jerkoffs and being hated on

oh & I know for a fact that the admin are on this site quite regularly, I'd say of the mod/admin group...they frequent here as much as I do.

Magnum
i agree... i think that we should have a vote who should be a moderater here...

moderaters i think, should also participate in club events/meets..... -cough- reflux

but the other mods dont log here often... seeing how i always check the who's on list.......

booyah!
my ESP skills are getting better!!!

JDC™
i still dont see what moderating a board has to do with coming out to events? :dunno:

Magnum
it doesnt really, just shows that your more involved.... thats all

SHIFT_AT_9000_RPMS
That's what it's all about, showing intrest in the "scene" - forums, meets, events, etc. - I think anyways............

BlueTurboEGG
Just because we don't post, doesn't mean we aren't watching.

And besides, I still get lots of reports of bad posters, just there isn't alot I see that needs to be moderated, alot of it is just someone being overly sensitive.

ps. THe next time I see a '93 lude in tech row, I'm throwing your car out on its trunk :slap: ;)

Let me rephrase that, I need a car I won't have to get towed down the quarter mile!!

SlowAzzPorsche911T
please don't make me a mod.. i'm an absolute asshole :P and i know it lol, I'd just be cuttin ppl down and this place would turn out like EO on crack :D

i do agree the mods should be more active but the mods on here are like mods from back in the day with asianet when they were mega post whores, they burnt out and in come the new wave

chromey for mod

ChromeDragon
Moderate THIS!! :moon:

heehehehehe, I just got :owned:

lovemytrx
So if the moderators were post whores, would that make people feel like they are more involved. Isn't most of what a moderator does behind the scenes? If you are doing something that requires a moderators attention, I for one would rather it be through pm's. No one likes to be scolded or reprimanded publicly.

Magnum
maybe attending meets doesnt really have anything to do with moderating, but it would be nice if one attended. maybe just recruit someone else to be like meets/cruise moderater.... someone who sets up meets/cruises/gb's/and shit like that..... someone like... hrrmmm

redbaron
chromedragon
slowazz

just an idea...... cause the events forum doesnt seem to be doing that great of a job :thefinger:

redbaron303
How come I get nominated.... We only planned one really good 2fast2furious meet thus far.... thanks again Mike for the help!

And then we could have a moderator who watched us drive home, and makes sure we all drive safe. Like when isnt a moderator not good to have around. :D

Jordan

redbaron303
They can pull you over and scold you for "improper lane changes" haha B)

superpirate25
We all know that sometimes it wouldn't hurt to have our driving moderated. ;)

Thanks for the nod Lude_boy.

Don't know how the "management" of 780 would feel about having a vendor as a mod, even though I like to think I am impartial. I just hate to see innacurate information propogating through the internet. I am always up for a good debate.

Case in point: Autotoy (sp?) asking about turbo's, it spilled over into a debate of turbo system boost control and wastegates. I would have notified those debating that the thread would be modified and "re-titled" to continue the debate.

That way, people who wish to open their eyes and read before asking questions could do a search for pre-existing topics, then if their question still is not answered, feel free to revive the thread or start another one.

Nothing is more frustrating for me than wading through post-whoring and nonsense to find that one jewel of accurate knowledge.

You might be amazed at the resources of knowledge alot of the member's of this board retain.

I feel they don't post because they are sick of the BS that seems to be overtaking this forum.

The RU Bored forum is exactly where the BS belongs, not in "General Auto Chat" or "Performance, Show and Sound Tech" (Which if I had any say would be seperated into different catagories).

I also believe that the "Club Zone" fracture's the board furthermore. I think it is a good idea in part, don't get me wrong, but I don't see how it is conducive to the growth of the local scene as a whole.

If we are going to change the majority of the public's perception, we as a group all need to be on the same page. After all, when all is said and done, the reason we found this place is through a love of cars.

If I wanted to be involved in the drama/bickering/stupidity end of the local scene, I would spend my time on EO's car forums.

redbaron303
Is that why I see you all the time on EO blaine!?

ahaha j/k

Everyone's gotta turn to the same page or we'll be going no where... :)

I don't know where people find the time, EO makes my head hurt.

Magnum
HOW bout this........ if a moderater supposedly sends you a warning..... shouldnt he keep a copy of the pm to show you........ because i didnt get no f@cking pm.... i just get told this

quote:
You have been given a warning before.
That was the first and last.

Additional explanation

like what the f@ck is that....

then this

quote:
Sent warnings are not kept by moderators nor admin.

Comprehension of the rules/guidelines is to be discerned by the user.

[QUOTE]1. I have not been given any warning... if i have post it here for me....

2. which guideline did i not comply to.

Scintillater
scint making her appearance.

as blueegg said...we do watch the boards, and though we may not post a whole heck of a lot, (there was a time it was my GOAL to be listed on the front page in EVERY single forum. ahahahaha) it's basically because we are busy, or simply may not have an opinion on the subject.

as for being involved at the events...OOOOOOOO don't even get me started there. hahahaha.

yah...i've been relatively absent lately. just pooped out. u try working with mark ;) he keeps u busy.

BlueTurboEGG
Read the rules, understand them, follow them.

It's that simple.

Failure to follow these rather simple rules gets you the the appropriate action taken against you:

Consequences will be dealt out on a case by case basis as admin/mods see fit.
Consequences include:
- Verbal warning via private message.
- Removal/deletion of avatar and/or user profile.
- Application of post restrictions.
- Limiting of user rights.
- Banning.

I don't see how that is so difficult to understand.

Well Matt, it seems like you're a decent enough guy to have common sense...

That's all that is really required :D

The thing I wonder about common sense is, if it's so common.....why don't more people have it?

BlueTurboEGG
You should start selling swift kicks to the ass... THere are so many people out there that need one :)

exactly... so why the f@ck did you skip number 1,3,4 and go right to taking the avatar and warning to ban......

you say its easy to understand... then why didnt you follow the order

Loose
So you lost your avtar and sig. Who cares. Now you have a new one. Go be happy :D

and... it's not an ordered list. It's just a list

First of all I never did shit to you, I'm only trying to help you understand because right now, I'm the f@cktard for trying to talk to you.

I don't know what's worse, people who can't read, or people who whine and snivel about their avatars.

Second of all, learn to read: Consequences will be dealt out on a case by case basis as admin/mods see fit.
