Downloading Music - Click HERE for Original Thread

SRBURG13
Anyone know the scoop on this. I heard that they are tracking down on people who download music off of the peer to peer sites. Also heard from someone that they already charged a bunch of people for it. I also heard that they were only doing this in the USA. Anyone have any comments on this, or other info they might have?

Thanks.

100% legal in canada... its in our charter of rights :)

"Fair use" the same law that charges us a tariff on blank "Audio" grade cds, blank VHS, beta, and cassette tapes. Basically it means that If we lend a CD to a friend and he copies it... thats legal.. If I make a copy of the CD, and give it to my friend.. thats bad.

Our govt takes a peice of the tariff and writes the RIAA/MPAA a huge check. So i guess they arent interested in getting rid of that :)

HOWEVER, i wouldnt recomend using "Kazaa" in its sharman networks version. its full of hidden crap.. find a copy of kazaa lite ++. you wont beable to find it on google.. sharmen asked them to get rid of it. Kazaalite++ is MUCH faster, and finds a tonne more results than the official client..

another thing.. on kazaa, since the RIAA cant procesute everyone sharing files, they are trying their best at corrupting the ones that are out there. If you get a song that chirps about 15sec into it, just DL another one and hope it doesnt happen again. The RIAA is "corrupting" mp3s out there.. well kinda. Kazaa downloads a file from multple sources at once.. the RIAA has a bunch of "junk" files, named like a bunch of popular songs. Your client will DL this "junk" and it will break the mp3. Just find another one, and it should work :)

Lemme know if you need any more information :)

from what I read, they are going after people with thousands of files, those who uplod. Also in the group of people that did get busted one was a 12 year old girl

one was also a 60 or 70 year old grandmother, there is also the choices for programs like gnucleus, direct connect, es5 and torrents. No spyware in any of them that I have found so far.

ES5 has a HUGE vulerablilty in it.. the programers put code in it to allow the deletetion of ANY file on your hard drive.. its deliberate too!
